dazes wrote: | CY, I do respect you and your opinion but I don't see what you mean about the public's opinion on the war is ok and the publics opinion on health care is not. I guess it is an area that is clear to me in terms of consistency but not to you. I think the public doesn't have a say in whether we go to war and you think it doesn't have a say in healthcare. We do elect officials to serve us in both categories. Sorry about the drinking thing it was meant as a joke. My husband goes around yelling Justification, you know what that means, when he's watching them debate on TV. I still think the bill in the form presented to the House to vote on had too many ambiguities to it to be reasonably sure it was the best bill that could be put for a vote. That is all I am trying to say. |
Okay, I will try to explain this to you one more time as clear as possible. The public gets a say. There a many polls out there that show a majority opinion in favor of health care reform. Therefore, the public wants health care reform. The only inconsistency is your insistence that the majority does NOT want reform. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. I think many foxnews watchers have been convinced that the townhall protesters are the (only) voice of the public. They are on the "talkin' picture box" with their fancy signs (handed to them by big insurance company lobyists) yelling and screaming (repeating what Hannity told them to say).
Judging by the 2008 voting results, there are a lot of citizens not represented in the assumption of what the public opinion is. |

Taking into account your oblique reference to your own approaching death, i'd say the younger guy has the better future. _________________ "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." ~Martin Luther King Jr.

Again your concern is overwhelming. Do I detect just a bit of hostility towards women? And I so could say some unkind things about proctology. Amphy you are wise. I am just a little unsure about the log comment. Again I am just a uninformed stepford wife. Could you please elaborate on which MD I should see about the log? Or maybe you should move you multitalented Medical opinionated self to the Health forum, I am sure you will find many who could use your expertise. |

Cy respectfully for every poll that says the public wants reform there are just as many that say they don't want government run reform. The townhalls had their share of crazies, but there were some honest people with genuine concerns. To dismiss them as all insane is like me saying all Dems are nuts. I am not going to say that, I feel we are all entitled to our opinions. When we all start to agree is when its time to worry about this countries future. And please don't use that tone of let me try to explain it to you again, thats beneath both of us. I expect a little more respect between the two of us. After all I see petulant children all day. |

Nope, no hostility toward women. Just minor irritation with people of any gender who call me an idiot when it seems to me the label's at least equally applicable to them.
The log comment? Well, since you didn't care for my 'glass houses' comment, the only other apropos reference that came to mind was Biblical:
Quote: | Why do you see the speck in your neighbor’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye? Or how can you say to your neighbour, "Let me take the speck out of your eye”, while the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbor’s eye. |
Applicable to both of us in our recent round of exchanges, i think. _________________ "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." ~Martin Luther King Jr.

I'm back. Went to a reunion of McGuffey marching band members from the last 50 years. Boy, there were a lot of old people there. Wait, I was one of them. Still fighting this damnable cold. Don't feel like doing much but napping. Think I'll take another one. Everybody have a good weekend. _________________

Most polls show support for health care reform. The few that don't aren;t very reliable. If you want to split hairs over polls that ask all sorts of loaded questions about government takeovers, that's not something I'm going to waste time doing. _________________ The end is nigh! There is no error in my logic. You're continuing to operate under the assumption that the majority does not want health care reform. That is simply false. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |
