Ommegang Adoration Ale. Its a limited edition Christmas Ale from them. They aren't making them anymore. And its a big corked bottle. And its 10% abv. And I'm going to drink beer and play final fantasy and its going to be just swell. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Awesome! Great brewery.
I'm definitely putting a few back tonight. I only have three 60 minutes left, so I'll be making a trip to the distributor.
We bottled our IPA this weekend and brewed a hoppy pilsner. Its our first attempt at a lager... so this should be interesting. I read up on culturing yeast directly from a beer bottle. I'm gonna go buy some Chimay or any Belgium that I can see some sediment on the bottom and then brew up a half decent Belgium. This hobby is kind of expensive and time consuming, but I'm enjoying the benefits!
Bye for now liberal chits. Happy St. Patricks Day. _________________

Oh, and I'm watching the new South Park tonight. It looks to be a parody of the Tiger Woods press conference. I can't wait. _________________

Drink " wisely, my friend"or something like that, and I think," gee, he must be very rich, young chicks, hanging with a beer baited breath, beer stinking old fart. |

Ommegang Adoration Ale.
Its a big beer at 10 abv. Rich and syrupy, its a dark ale in the Belgian style. Being a Christmas ale, I guess they thought it would be cool to give it a pine flavor...and it works! Awesome beer. If you can find it, try it cause there's only so many before they're gone. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

Looks like another attempt at taking a piece of the micro market by MillerCoors.
Quote: | Batch 19 is a new beer being test-marketed by MillerCoors, and it has an interesting gimmick: It's based on a recipe that dates back to before Prohibition.
MillerCoors will roll out the beer next month in four cities: Chicago, Milwaukee, San Francisco and Washington, D.C., according to The Wall Street Journal.
Batch 19 is being marketed as a "true, authentic, original beer." It has a great backstory: A master brewer at MillerCoors unearthed the recipe in Coors' archives, and discovered that it was used to make beers before 1919. Hence, the name Batch 19.
MillerCoors jumped on the recipe, and for good reason: The beer industry is flat. Beer shipments in the U.S. fell 2% last year, according to the Journal. Miller Lite fared exceptionally poorly, with shipments down 6.5%, while Coors Light saw an 0.8% bump.
MillerCoors is trying all kinds of stunts to improve its sales, including using a new bottle with grooves inside the neck that supposedly make for a better aroma and flavor, according to the Journal.
|
Look, I'll try it. I'm not really looking forward to it though. The market who enjoys a good microbrew (us) isn't going to be purchasing products from the big brewers. Buying "Batch 19" is still supporting the brewers of Coors and Miller Light. If you want to try a beer that tastes like a "pre prohibition" recipe, then try any of the brews recommended on this thread. _________________

Also, thanks to everyone who recommended Sam Adam's Noble Pils. I bought a case last night, poured it into my favorite pint glass, and was amazed at how light in color it was. Upon tasting it, I was pleasantly surprised at the hoppy taste! OWWWW! Wonderful stuff. A symphony on my tongue.
I always have Jameson on my liquor shelf. Yesterday, I went to make a glass on the rocks, and I saw the bottle of Crown Royal that I bought instead. Chit! Crown is still really good, but not an St. Pats day. _________________

Maybe they could just make the beer taste better? _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

Consider what they have to compare it to. "Better" is a relative term for them. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

Yeah, I thought of the new Sam Adam's glass when I read that. I know some real beer connoisseurs who swear that those glasses aid the flavor and aroma of your beer. _________________
