I'm still trying to convince my college buddies, after more than 25 years, that the best kind of beer isn't free beer!

I like beer... but I don't know that I can be as passionate about it as you two... i have had some pretty awesome beers... but honestly, I didn't care enough to remember them Smile

Now wine... that's just... well... altogether different

Of course, how could I forget! I'm still planning on winning the lottery and building myself a beer cellar one day. Among the beers that I'll be storing:

Can a beer cellar and a wine cellar be the same room? or are there different conditions for the beer than the wine?

I'll answer this one for him. Its basically the same in terms of temperature and light, but you don't typically store a beer on its side like a wine; the yeast and sediment need to remain at the bottom and will mix into the beer easier than in a wine. While that's not the end of the world, it does affect the taste and getting too much yeast in your glass will make you gassy too Shocked Corks drying out are not a huge concern because you don't typically store the beer longer than 5 or 6 years before its going to depreciate anyway...or if you're me, you don't store it for longer than 5 to 6 hours Wink

I'd have Chimay and Ommegeddon in my cellar as well.

You know what the only problem with these great beers is? Price. How cruel is it that something that tastes so good costs so much? I mean chili cheese dogs only cost like 2 bucks and the adverse health effects can't be that much worse than a 750 ml bottle of beer in one sitting. I can stuff myself full of pizza for around 10 bucks. But when I want to enjoy a nice beer, I have to take out a second mortgage on my house. Life is so unfair...

I'm more of a wine drinker, but when I want the occasional beer, I'll have a Newcastle, a Blue Moon or a Hoegaarden.

Like Brant, i'm more likely to have a glass of wine, but when i want beer i prefer a pint of Guinness on tap.

Had the chance to hit Sharp Edge Brasserie and try a couple of their Christmas beers. They're all in short supply and many are already gone! The Delirium Noel and Corsendonk Xmas Ale were both quite tasty.

Yuengling by far!
At least this has a flavor, compared to the "regular" beers.

Have had some at micro breweries and they were real good.
