We could go around in circles on the subject of the Bible's validity and you probably would not change your mind about it so I won't argue my position. |
But you are arguing your position. I'm only a bad person if you believe the Bible is true. However, I can be a good person to plenty of people who don't believe it. Since I personally think it amounts to nothing more than a nice set of fairy tales, the argument against my character using it as a basis is a logical fallacy from my position. Its kind of like saying I'm a blasphemer because I don't believe in Santa Claus. If you can formulate a secular argument for me being a blasphemer, then maybe I wouldn't find your position to be so misguided and arrogant. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. I actually agree with you, Brant! Jesus said, " I wish you were hot or cold but because you are lukewarm I want to vomit you out of my mouth." Rev. 3:16 _________________ It's almost 2010! Why do I not have my own personal robot? |

Maybe that's what Jesus was talking about & it was taken out of context. _________________ "If by a 'Liberal' they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people — their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights and their civil liberties ... if that is what they mean by a 'Liberal,' then I’m proud to say I’m a 'Liberal.'" ~ Senator John F. Jane, please read the book I referenced from Mitch Albom. It clearly shows how people should be considerate of all religions or even non-religions. Very inspiring. _________________ -amom

Jane, you clearly are misinterpreting me or the Bible. I do not believe. That is not lukewarm. That is cold. Period. If you believe, that would be hot. The only people who could be described as lukewarm are those who aren't sure whether they believe or not. _________________

Thank you Cy, for providing that link....A strange form of time travel...And, yes, I read it all....pity me...
It seems that PlainJane took offense to the open support of atheism...
Perhaps she (or he ) felt overwhelmed and out-numbered and struck out naturally in the defense of her faith
......
See, it's like family...I can say anything I want about my sister - but if Joe says the same thing, he and I will be rolling in the gravel

We could say the same about the believers. _________________

choosing not to choose, is still a choice...and believing in nothing is still a belief...it's one of those Zeno paradoxes...and if you maintain that Religion is an organized system of thought, demanding adherence to a particular credo, one that offers no proof, then it seems to me, that atheism itself, is a religion _________________ where-ever you get it - there you have it. - Anon. |
