Olde Gnarlywine! From Lagunitas brewery. 11% abv and great. You get a apple tartness you expect from barley wines but also a good strong hop aroma and flavor, yet not bitter at all! Very unique, very good. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

Laugunita's, Anderson Valley, Stone (Off the top of my head, these are my top 3 favorite breweries), Anchor, Sierra Nevada... Plus lax marijuana cultivation..... why haven't I moved to California yet? _________________

Here's what I picked up at THE giant eagle yesterday on the way home...
6 pack sam adams noble pils (this is good!)
Ruination IPA
2 Sam Smiths Imperial Stouts (had one two weeks ago and enjoyed it immensely)
Orval Trappiste Ale _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

Let me know what you think of that Orval. I liked it more the first time than I did the second. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

I gave in to the peer pressure and picked up a sixer of Sam Adams noble pils to try during the game.
Also feeling pretty special; I picked up a bottle of something called Scaldis Refermente for 15 smackers at GIANT eagle to try. I hope its worth it. Its 12% abv so I'll at least get a good buzz. I checked beer advocate and its only been reviewed by three other people! _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

Have you had a pils yet? I think it's pretty tasty. Might get a few more for grass-cutting weather _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

Not yet, but I'll have at least a couple tonight. All the BA reviews are in the A- to B+ range so I have high hopes. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

I'm drinking the Orval now... I don't know about it... Kinda tastes like furry black licorice. On facebook, I said that tastes the way polish music sounds _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

I get the feeling that Orval varies more than your average ale from batch to batch. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

It's really cloudy and tastes like mulling spices. It's not bad, it's just kind of a chore to drink _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

I have to bottle my homebrew tonight. Had a little taste test on sunday and it shockingly seemed to still have some fermenting to do. I think I'm just going to bottle condition with less added sugar and take the chance that it undercarbonates. I don't feel like waiting anymore and I tried to turn the IPA into an Imperial IPA which I think tastes better a little less bubbly anyway.
Also, I'm looking forward to tomorrow. Finally going to crack that Scaldis Refermente I've been sitting on for a couple weeks. A wine bottle's worth of 12% abv goodness, all for me. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

So I worked from home today. Weather was kind of bad this morning and I had the option. I took it.
That means I'm drinking the Scaldis Refermente right now. I'm am officially reviewer #4 of it on BA; to me, that indicates that it must be pretty rare.
This wasn't cheap; 15 bucks at the GIANT eagle.
But it is basically my favorite beer of all time ever now. Its just super perfect in ever way. Great malty flavor, perfect balance between sweet and dry, sexy carbonation, a 12% abv kick in the jock, and no bitterness to speak of. It calls itself an amber ale. It sits somewhere between your belgian pale ale/trippel and your belgian dark ale/dubbel class. It has the dryness and citrus of the first, but a subtle hint of the sugar sweetness of the second. Its also light and bubbly like a trippel.
If you're lucky, they still have these at the GIANT eagle. My advice is eat the price...its worth it. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |
