I've had all the Delirium offerings that I know of (Tremens, Nocturnum, Noel) and they are all excellent.

If you're out to try the Scaldis Refermente, I think its a limited run. Get it now or you'll never get it.

Yeah, nevermind. Is there a way put an image up from Paint or Word?
Or a pic that I have saved on my PC?

Bought a case of Lagunitas The Hairy Eyeball Ale tonight. Never head of it, but it sounded like a winner at the distributor. Its a pretty big beer. It poured into my glass completely flat... then a tiny head appeared out of nowhere. So I tried looking up how to read the expiration date on the box (I know how to read most of them, but this one is weird). I thought maybe I got an old batch that was sitting at the distributor forever. This happens in my neck of the woods. I ended up reading on the website that it was just released as a New Years seasonal. Its made with six different types of crystal malt and is the maltiest beer they make. I wasn't real excited about reading this (I love hops), but it kind of helped to lower my expectations. Yeah, there was a big malty taste. It hid the alcohol very well. There was a hint of plum tastiness... maybe. Hell, I don't know... but I'm enjoying it. I'd recommend trying it.

Dick--- re: putting up an image that is saved locally

Go to imgur.com and make an account. There, you can upload pics from your computer really quick and dirty for the sake of posting them online... They give you posting url's to the pics you upload, or you can just right click and uploaded image, select "copy image location" and then use that.

Thanks E. I just wanted to share the label for my home brew. I'll probably add "6.3 abv" or what ever the final reading is. The labels are super easy at that "says-it" web site on the side. Warning, you can end up killing a lot of time playing with all of the options.

Speaking of Deacon, did I miss his arrival? Or are we still waiting?

How do you actually test the abv?

Not yet. Wifey was feeling nausious and dizzy at work yesterday. So she called her Doc and they told her to come to the hospital. So we drove to MaGee around 5pm last evening only to drive home around 7pm. False Alarm. Could happen any day now.

Any beer kit will come with a hydrometer. The hydrometer reads the gravity of your beer. Water reads exatly 1.000 at 60 degrees. With out getting into all my brewing terms... once you add your brewing ingredients the gravity rises up to 1+. Before you pitch the yeast, you take a hydrometer reading and document it. After fermentation is complete, you take another hydrometer reading, subtract the numbers, and that is your alcohol content. Razz

Giant Eagle five minutes from my house to offer beer! Woo hoo!

Quote:

A proposed restaurant inside the Giant Eagle in North Huntingdon would offer beer sales...

...the chain intends to renovate the store to create a new restaurant area where patrons could drink two beers if they purchase prepared food there or buy two six-packs for take-out from a selection of 200 beers.

I'm definitely looking forward to the one stop shopping. Also, buying single bottles of select styles before making the investment of a 24 bottle inventory is a nice perk. But my question is, will it be a fuel perk?

They never ask me to scan my giant eagle card when I buy beer. You buy it separately from the rest of your groceries. My guess is no.

Nope... no fuel perks on cigarettes or beer... or insurance-paid prescriptions...

And I think milk, too... or at least it used to be that you wouldn't get fuel perks on milk...

I forget why... something with how it's regulated and classified...

Yeah... It's like milk farmers get special subsidies... and the milk itself has a price floor... so, if you buy milk, you are paying for a subsidy to milk farmers, not just a pure price for milk. So if they, in turn, discounted fuel with those dollars, it would be like milk farmers were subsidizing fuel with the subsidy they get from the government...

I don't know if this is still true or not... but when fuel perks first started, there was a sign on the milk areas that said that you didn't get fuel perks for milk...
