We do have the best medical care in the world......the cost of it is the problem, Abomb!.....
O'sama Care is not the answer, as we'll find out.....we are so near being bankrupt, and along comes this idiot with his phony-baloney health care plan, which will take us over the edge.

Well I guess we're going to find out now, aren't we? The bill is headed to Obama's desk today. The reconciliation bill passed with unanimous GOP disapproval and is headed to the Senate where it will undoubtedly pass. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! The problem is threefold.
1) Access to care
2) Cost of care
3) Quality of care (per capita)
This bill addresses only #1, access. No preexisting conditions, no lifetime cap, access to healthcare for those well below the poverty line. Depending on what stays in, it could help curb cost, but I like to think congress could do a lot better job with it. And phony is somewhat right. The United States has the best doctors, the most up to date technology, and the best hospitals in the world, yet we still rank thirty something in the world heathcare rankings. _________________

Well, first you are contradicting yourself. You list quality of care as one of the three problems and then counter by saying we have the best doctors, tech and hospitals in the world.
This bill addresses accessibility and also cost for a lot of people. It could have done a much better job at addressing cost. As a bill to reform insurance, it was never going to address quality of care anyway; the quality of care leaves a lot to be desired here in a lot of ways, and its almost a different issue in terms of what needs to be in a bill.
I would disagree with you that we have the best doctors, hospitals and technology in the world per capita which is all that matters. We may have the single best doctor, single best hospital, or single most advanced piece of equipment here, but that's pretty meaningless when 99% of the population doesn't have access to it. For what its worth, you have a better chance of seeing a better doctor, going to a better hospital or having access to more modern technology in all of those 30 some odd countries that rank ahead of us, and that's why they rank ahead of us.
The reason we don't have better doctors here is because it costs too much to become a doctor now. The reason we don't have better technology is because it costs too much to use it, so there's no demand for it. The same goes for better hospitals. _________________ The end is nigh! I didn't go nearly in depth as you did. Thats what I was saying in not so many words. We can all go to into Pittsburgh and be taken care of by the very best medical staff in the world. But if we have an emergency in Greene County, they might be subpar. And if you live in Bumfahk, ND then you might as well run across the border to Canada. Hence the poor world ranking.
If I'm not being clear, I'd rather you ask me what I meant instead of immediately saying that I contradicted myself. Thanks. _________________

Likewise Cy I want to vomit everytime today I have read it was a UNIVERSAL health care bill. It is a LONG way from being universal. But I am sure that still has Kennedy Jr. and Pelosi high-fiving each other. _________________

It's clearly not universal since Zorlocks from Frobototron are entirely excluded _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

Well it seemed perfectly clear to me. I didn't realize you meant something different from what you said. No need to snap. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

Well, you can't trust politicians, but you can trust politicians to be politicians. Pelosi shouldn't be partying anymore than Boehner should be moping, but they're all caricatures of human beings. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Along the same lines...I'm getting really annoyed with all the comments I'm reading today about how we now have socialized healthcare & everyone's getting free healthcare, etc... _________________ "If by a 'Liberal' they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people — their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights and their civil liberties ... if that is what they mean by a 'Liberal,' then I’m proud to say I’m a 'Liberal.'" ~ Senator John F. That's what I'm being told! Ondi-I sincerely do believe we have taken a giant step toward socialized medicine. But that is just my opinion. _________________
