I actually know a huge number of people, almost all of them liberals, and besides you, I literally know no one who thinks Obama is as bad as Bush.

I'm sure that there are many liberals that are disappointed...But the conservatives think that means all those people are now on their side. They don't realize that most liberals that are disenchanted with Obama is bc he hasn't been as liberal as they would want him to be...

I think most liberals who say they are disenchanted with the current government are referring to congress. I don't know anyone who thinks our government is great right now, but again, besides Brant, I also don't know any liberal who thinks Obama is as bad as Bush. But CNN and Fox News say they are everywhere.

As I said on the previous page, anyone out there who was a strong supporter of Obama and is now disenchanted to the point of comparing him to Bush will hopefully have learned a lesson about setting unrealistic expectations in time for the next election.

Source?
Several TV news channels have stated the Pelosi is giving the house dems a shield by not requiring a direct vote on the senate bill. Even so, as of today, she doesn't have the votes or they would have already voted.

Pretty sure she does have the votes. It takes congress 3 months to vote on anything. As for these several news channels, was this some kind of investigative report or did they just have a bunch of pundits on sharing their opinion? Because talking heads saying chit isn't news.

I heard that the vote would be within 72 hours... I'd estimate they are 5-10 short on an up or down vote and probably have a spare 2-3 votes on the Slaughter procedural vote on the recon bill.

Purely speculation on my part, though

Cy-with all due respect I think there could be video and twelve eye witnesses to Obama commiting murder and you would find a way to A. Defend him and B. Blame Republicans.

A. Some people deserve to die
B. If the guy murdered was a Republican, it's his fault! Wink

That's actually kind of a big deal, since Dennis was a holdout on the principle that he wants single payer...

I know it sounds like I would defend him from anything, but its really just a comparative issue. Everybody on the right, a lot in the middle and the media outlets (even left ones) are trying to tell us Obama is terrible, and I think they're all full of chit. But because that's all you hear, me defending him sounds like I am the one who is deluded. I don't care. I didn't spend 12 years of grade school and 6 years in college getting two degrees to totally ignore everything I learned about our government and the constitution and accept the CNMSNFoxNews version of how it works, which, let's be honest, is basically whatever advertisers tell them it is at any given time. I explicitly laid out the problems I have with this administration on the previous page. I don't think he's perfect. But the level of criticism he is receiving right now is frankly a little embarrassing for us as a country. The rest of the world thinks we are petty, arrogant and ignorant. Well I can see why.

And I don't blame all Republicans, just the ones that make bad decisions that hurt the country.

I figured Smile My post was a pre-emptive strike on people saying "well, duh... he's a liberal!"

The point is, YES! he IS a liberal... one of the few principled people in congress who are about as consistent as possible on his ideology.
