Age is totally irrelevent. I'm considerably older and have more life experience than Cy, yet I agree with him on most points. That old argument that "you're too young; you haven't learned anything yet" is just stupidity trotted out most often by old, dumb people.

Your off on the age. I've been pretty perceptive of things like racism since I was around 8 or 9. For example, if someone had said the n-word in front of me then, I would have noticed.

I'm trying to find the exit polls from last year's primary that asked if race was a significant factor in who you voted for... If I recall correctly, West Virginia came in the highest at 25%, Kentucky was next at about 20% and I don't remember much else... It would interesting to compare the results from our corner of appalachia to that of these southern areas that are being mentioned.

Did you ever notice when you went to the movies, the "colored" had to sit in the "colored" section?

Beer joints and other places would not serve "colored".( their money was good for "take out" though.)

Colored had to live in the colored part of town?

Not in Ga. or Miss., right here in western Pa. as late as the early sixties.

I wasn't alive quite that long ago, thankfully.

I was and was I ever confused, I could go to school, learn the same lessons, play ball etc. at recess with them, but we could not sit together in a movie or go into some stores to get an ice cream together. I had to bring it out of the store(I was white at the time

As we got to be 10 or so, all of us boldly sat in the "colored' section" ,). Not just me but all the boys in town did it. Amazing thing, no one gave a toot , and it went like that all through high school too. What was all that about? We still laughed about it at our 50th re-union , although nearly 50 from our class passed on including 6 of the "colored" guys we played with at those grade school recess ball games and on up through our high school teams.

I have you beat....I've been following race issues since I was six years old...

My first kiss was in the first grade by a black girl who chased me around, all the time, kissing me.....

Well, i did have a crush on a little black kid in a swimming program at W&J when i was six or so. So if that sort of interest counts as following race issues....
