I'll start. Teachers need to be held accountible in under performing schools. In Pa, they really need to do away with tenure. It allows teachers to get too comfortable and makes it impossible to fire a bad one.

Wow, a freaking libchit, making sense....I can't believe it...

One major factor in making an improvement within our system would be to give the teachers strict control of the classroom....that means throwing the ACLU, PTA, NTA, NEA, and above all the DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION the hell out of our education system.....those organizations are a hinderance to educating.......teachers teach, not those organizations.

Bad idea. Someone has to enforce uniform standards of education across state lines, or we'll have states full of idiots. Who do you propose should do this?

Uniform standards of what?? How to place a condom on a cucumber??

We didn't have any of those freaking worthless organizations in the 1930s, and we produced the GREATEST GENERATION ever....

Ever since the introduction of those organizations we've had wonderful results, haven't we???

SCHOOL SHOOTINGS
TEENAGE PREGNANCIES
SUICIDES
LOWER GRADE STANDARDS...

At the risk of sounding ungrateful, I've heard about enough of that "greatest generation" stuff. I thank the men and women who sacrificed and died during World War II, but I think it's a bit much to say that particular generation did more for us than any other. I think the generation that produced Washington, Jefferson, the Adamses, Monroe, Madison, etc., could make a pretty good claim.

Its not the education system's fault that your generation raised dumb kids who turned into chitty parents. No offense to anyone from that generation; most of the ones I actually know personally are great.

Brant, not just the men and women who won WWII, I'm talking about advances made in technology, giving us the wonders in technology that we enjoy today....

What about those of the 40's 50's 60' and 70's who head up our parts of our country today and on into the next decade? And other World Leaders.

While the others have brought us here, it is this group that will take America and the world into the future.

People like:
Bill Clinton
George Bush
Barrack Obama
Sara Palin
and the many up-coming younger men and women who will be contesting and winning seats in the political arena.
The youthful leaders of the Mid-East, India, Asia, and the Americas

I understand what you're saying, Phony, but each generation builds upon the discoveries and advances of the ones before it. Your generation did plenty to be proud of, but so did others.

Phony is all about "personal resbonsibility", but then turns around and blames the school system for problems that obviously have little to do with education & a lot to do with poor child-rearing. It's the parents' job to raise their kids properly, not the schools' or the teachers'.

Brant, now you see why I must repeat myself.....Ana and other libchits continuously say that parents are at fault for our children not receiving a proper education..and I must continuously say, "BULLCHIT"..

When I attended school, my dad and mom worked from sunrise to sunset (and even into the night, at times)....they had no time to devote to educating kids...and neither did the rest of the honkies in Westland....most of them couldn't speak English, and this idiot Ana wants parents to do the job of TEACHERS???? She's freaking nuts.....she's a typical "excuse oriented" LIBCHIT lowlife......

TEACHERS TEACH.....not parents....

All of the involvement of my parents amounted to "ENCOURAGEMENT".....period...they didn't have time to devote to my learning experience....

Yeah, your teachers did a bang up job with you.

Its is not the responsibility of teachers to teach kids morality. That is the responsibility of parents.

Sure, I think that they did an excellent job.....considering that the second class education system we have today, sends college entrants who must take remedial courses for two years, in order to continue on towards a degree....

I've never met anyone who has taken "remedial courses."
