Looks like they may have solved the problem--or not?
remember, these gas pedals are not your grandfathers gas pedal that used only linkages, these are computerized and Toyota needs to search there and not a FLOORMAT or a piece of rubber on the floor you push on with your foot.
Something is telling the fuel to increase dramatically and the only way to see what is doing this is by the process of elimination , or check one of those cars that crashed if it still has readable instrumentation. Something is stuck/sticking somewhere.
In the meantime, if your car does this, PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, and gently tap on the brakes or slam them if there is no time to coast to a stop., NETURAL is "N' in the gear window .
Doing this disconnects the engine from the drive wheels allowing you to control the car. |

If you can hold down the brake pedal enough to stop it, you can also just turn off the key. You're right, though, Bus, about putting it in neutral. I use neutral all the time going down hills in snowy weather. _________________

Turning the key off cuts the power brakes and steering, if you can keep calm above the roaring engine noise , this is your best bet.
I do that too on hills , just don't let the car pick up any speed and go to a slide. creep, creep creep, white knuckles on steering wheel is when it is really icy out there. |
