Always said he's extremely underrated. People always say Brees and Rivers are better. Stats are one thing, but tell me who has more rings and I'll tell you who's the better QB. Brees and Rivers may be better fantasy picks, but I'd take Ben ahead of them to start a team. To me its Peyton, Brady, Ben 1 2 3. Carson Palmer, on the other hand, is the most overrated QB in professional football. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! I couldn't agree more. I think its a USC thing. Every player that has come out of USC this decade is supposed to be the next (insert hall of famer). And this is the top reason why I feel Mark Sanchez will fail.
The only future hall of fame Trojan is Troy Polamalu. Like I said, he is not human. |

I just don't get the infatuation with Palmer, and as I've said a million times, I'm not a Steelers fan so its not a rivalry thing for me. The guy has reasonably good stats with a great WR corps and thats it. Maybe I'll change my tune when he wins a playoff game.

Thats kind of the arguement in favor of some of the other QBs. You have to imagine if Drew Brees (who, in my opinion, is better than Ben), McNabb, Rivers, Cutler, and whoever else, were on the Steelers... with the Steelers D, coaches, philosophy, and even the fans.... would they have won two Super Bowls? what about more than two?
And vice versa, if Ben were drafted by... say San Diego. Would he have been able to come into Heinz Field last year and win in the first round?
Please don't answer... I'm just saying that when the media evaluates QBs, they like to imagine these scenerios. I think that Ben is in the perfect situation with coaches who are letting him do his thang, and the best defense in the league. |

They mentioned last night the sacks Ben takes because he holds the ball too long; sacks are ok as they said because of the big plays he comes up with fairly often.
The worry I have is the risk he is taking of getting a serious injury as a result of this. The longer he holds the ball, the more time more defenders can gather to whack him. Some of these guys are really mean. |

Big Ben won't have the longevity that Favre has had, that's for sure. But then, nobody should have the longevity Favre has had. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

I wonder if he's made his decision on the TV at Sears yet? _________________ -amom

Checking in. Let's see how I've done so far.
TEN @ PIT - Quote: | I'm not going to go into too much detail on this one. The short answer is I don't see the defending SB champs losing their opener. Steelers, 17-7 | Already touched on this.
JAC @ IND - Quote: | This is a divisional game and I tend to take the Colts in this division just on history. Colts, 31 - 13 | Much closer than I thought, but correct nonetheless.
DET @ NO - Quote: | I think that if any team goes 0-16 this year, it'll be the Raiders. That said, I don't think the Lions have a chance here. Saints, 21 - 17 | Blowout. Detroit should just forfeit the rest of the year.
PHI @ CAR - Quote: | Philly is going to be a team to chase in the NFC this year, and not even because of Vick. Carolina will be good too, but I expect the Eagles to come out on top, 24 - 21 | Another blowout. Philly is going to make it tough for anyone else in this division.
DAL @ TB - Quote: | Dallas, on the other hand...way overrated. But TB is mediocre at best. Dallas 17 - 13 | Tony Romo has a good game. Boys fans are no doubt having orgasms right now.
NYJ @ HOU - Quote: | I expect the Jets to do pretty well because I think Sanchez will be good, but it may take them a game or two to get going. Houston, 21 - 13 | Not a bad debut for the new kid. Should have given him more credit.
KC @ BAL - Quote: | Kansas City doesn't have much going for it; Cassel was a result of a system so he'll be underwhelming. Baltimore, 28 - 10 | An easy prediction. KC didn't do much to improve this summer.
DEN @ CIN - Quote: | I don't expect much from either of these teams this season. I'll take Cincy, 17 - 10 | Denver proves me wrong...barely.
MIN @ CLE - Quote: | The Vikings will do great for the first half of the season while Brett is still fresh. Vikes, 31 - 21 | Just like I said. Brett was Brett and AP is trying to help my MVP prediction come true.
MIA @ ATL - Quote: | The Falcons are looking like a team on the rise to me. Falcons, 21 - 17. | Another easy one imo. Miami will do okay, but Atlanta is a sleeper hit.
WAS @ NYG - Quote: | Always a great matchup to start off the season between these rivals. The Giants are a bit depleted and the Skins tend to do well before falling apart later in the season. I'll go with the upset, Skin 27 - 24 | Same problems as always for the Skins; no offense. Plus the Giants looked better than I thought they would.
SF @ ARI - Quote: | Defending SB champs? I'll always pick them to win the first back. But defending runners up? I'll always pick them to lose the first back, even if I'm picking them to win their division again. Niners, 17 - 14 | I think this was a very unpopular pick...which makes me look that much smarter for picking it.
STL @ SEA - Quote: | Did the Rams do anything to improve this off season? I'm seriously asking, I didn't hear anything about them. Hawks, 24 - 13 | Did the Rams do anything to improve? Clearly not.
CHI @ GB - Quote: | Two young QBs with something to prove. Cutler will take a few games to settle into his new team. Pack, 27 - 17 | After that game, the only part of my prediction here that isn't looking good is that Cutler will ever settle in.
BUF @ NE - Quote: | Brady's back. Pats, 35 - 14 | Well that should have been easier. Still, Brady pulled it out.
SD @ OAK - Quote: | Raiders are at home, but does that even mean anything for them? Chargers, 17 - 3 | The Raiders put up a great fight. They might win a few this season after all. Chargers on top though.
For week 1, I went 13-3. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now!

How bad is Jake Delhomme? They might have to euthanize him. _________________

Yeah, his career in Carolina may be over. I'm tempted to give myself a W for my Denver prediction because the way they won that game is utter BS. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

It will take 3-4 games for all the teams to settle in, then we will get a better picture of how the rest of the season will go, barring any major injuries.
By then the rookies won't be as agressive as the pros will have knocked that simpleness out of them and 3-4 weeks soaking in a whirlpool will have convinced them this is a rough game.
Then they all settle in and just play. |

So did anyone watch last night's game, GB and CHI? Aaron Rodgers looked like a stud and Cutler looked like a poop cannon. But it was a great finish, the best of the day in terms of execution on the part of GB and the second best in terms of nail biting finishes behind the dumb luck conclusion to the Denver game. _________________ The end is nigh! Rodgers hit Jennings on a wide open deep slant for the game winner and it was orgasmic. Made me wish I was a Pack fan. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |
