Today's rant: my drinking problem. And no, I don't mean alcohol, I mean my drinking problem like Ted Striker's drinking problem. Why is it that when I try to drink water from a cup, I always spill it all over myself? Its not as though I don't have years of practice raising a cup to my mouth. _________________ The end is nigh! Yeah, make fun...
Chick next door was looking at my phone (she has an iPhone, too)... and she was all like "OMG how many apps do you have??? I only have like two panels full and I have had my phone for months!"
I have 53 applications so far (6 days)... so, really, there IS an app for most everything
Ok, I'm sorry for being a d-bag... _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

I realize that at 50, I'm of a much different generation than some of the folks here, but somehow we were able to conduct business, handle our family matters and go about our daily affairs without having a phone in our hand 24 hours a day. _________________

I am just a bit older than that and yes, isn't it amazing. And without cell phones, I pretty much always knew where my kids were.... _________________

My mother always told us just to be home by dark. In Claysville when I was a kid, if you acted the fool, somebody else's mother or dad would be more than willing to set you straight. Community parenting, I guess you would call it. Phony would probably think it was socialism. _________________

I hardly ever use mine to talk to people
I have had two blackberries and a windows smart phone (in addition to a couple of cell phones). The first blackberry was an 8703e... it was the last of the "old" style blackberries. It was a great device. But really, it was a one trick pony... email and contacts and really not much else (you could text and go on the web, but it wasn't anything spectacular).
I accidentally spilled iced tea on it an it died. I called the insurance company to get a replacement, and they said that the model was discontinued and that the only thing they would replace it with was the blackberry pearl.
That phone ended my love affair with Research in Motion devices. The pearl is an abomination of a phone. It does everything that the 8703e did, but poorly.
Rather than go to a Curve or a World Edition, my next smart phone was a motorola Q... Which, in retrospect, REALLY sucked. The email capability was poor, the operation system was slow, the web browsing was slow, the navigation was clumsy...
So, we jumped ship from verizon to AT&T to get iPhones. It truly is a technological revelation. I would rate the email capabilities as similar to that of the blackberry. While it doesn't check for email as often as the BB, and the way it handles viewed messages is different and inferior, it IS able to push hotmail, gmail, AND my regular business email to the phone. But that's like admiring a car for the floormats. The operating system is beautiful and fluid (especially on my wife's faster 3Gs)... navigation is intuitive, and the web browser is spectacular.
It is more like using a computer than like using a phone. Talking and text messaging equal probably about 10% of what I utilize this device for. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |
