Please help with this little survey….
For a year now, while discussing health care reform with many dozens of individuals, a telling statistic remains unchanged -- every individual I know who currently does not have health insurance, overtly supports HCR. On the other hand, every person who opposes HCR, already has their own health insurance plan…. (As a sadly ironic side note, over 50 % of those with health plans, have stable, government supported benefits…)
---
To be fair, many people who currently possess health insurance, and pay for it themselves, have also worked hard to see their benefits extended to everyone, and they support HCR. They are the angels in the ointment
---
So what we are left with is a structural tug of war between the haves and have-nots. And though my survey has been informal, it includes 153 honest opinions, with not one single exception. My question then, is, do you know of one individual who actively opposes universal health care but who also does not currently enjoy their own health insurance policy ?

I do not know of anyone except BB if he is telling the truth about not having insurance. Phony will ask us not to bring class warfare into this in 3...2...1... _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

I'll be honest, health coverage or the lack thereof doesn't normally come up in my daily conversations. Obviously, everyone else here has the same coverage through their union, and the employees don't contribute a dime. (I'm covered by adad's union contracted insurance and we don't pay either.) How does HCR affect people like this? _________________ -amom

Probably someone will post you will have to give half to one of those 32 million who will now have it, well half of it.
The other thing is, at least for me, is that it takes a while to get a doctors appt, usually a month after my blood work twice a year. What will it be like with a whole lot of new people if no more doctors open offices? it is said that in (very quiet and covert here) the "socialist" countries that have care(canada, etc), it takes a really long time to get certain treatments. Will that happen?
Do Doctors have to partake in this program, if they are forced--is that not involuntary servitude? Or is like getting drafted into the Army?

Then why are people afraid of it? Oh, that's right, misinformation and politics. _________________ -amom

If it works the way it is supposed to, then adad's union will be able to continue to provide full benefits 20 years down the road because of lower costs (or at least, a lower rate of growth in those costs).
Other than that... I don't know... less crowded emergency rooms ? _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

ER"s need to be redefined, no guts, no blood, no protruding bones, or no heartbeat= no ER. Go to a Med Center |

You will probably need to make routine appointments a little further ahead of time than normal. Emergency care, on the other hand, should happen quicker.

There's nothing for them to partake of. From their perspective, nothing is different. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

Why? Because they've agreed with you? _________________ "If by a 'Liberal' they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people — their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights and their civil liberties ... if that is what they mean by a 'Liberal,' then I’m proud to say I’m a 'Liberal.'" ~ Senator John F.
