Cy, I have to thank you for bringing up the "at first i was like... then... I lol'd" thing...

Here at work... when one of our research projects comes out of the field, one of the things I have to do is go through the raw data and scrub the "Others" file... It's qualitative research, so a lot of our questions are open-ended. I have to through the open-ended "other" response for each question and see if a response should be attributed to an item that is on the existing list of responses for a question... or see if there were enough of the same responses to create a new item in the database.

Normally, the others are fairly workable... for a 500 in-tab project, you might have 30 pages... for a 1000 respondent study, you might get up close to 100 pages. Normally, if the document that I am working with is more than like 70 pages, I get all depressed because it takes forever to go through and hand-code this crap...

Well, today, I got the raw data for our Boston study... 1550 respondents... 236 pages of the most random bullchit you've ever seen.

We usually bind these with one metal ring in the upper left hand corner... I put them in a three ring binder and made this the cover:

Chick next door thought this was the funniest thing EVER. I'm leaving it on Hairy Guy's desk with a note asking him to do it for me on Monday since I have client meetings Smile

This will take me a week to trudge through... argh! Can't do nothin' but laugh.

Speaking of internet addiction...I'm starting to freak out about not being able to go online frequently when I go to Norway for two weeks in May! Shocked

They both should work if you can find a hot spot. The way I understand it, their internet speeds are faster than ours anyway. As an aside, Google is going to start providing high speed internet domestically at the levels they get in Europe to show us what we've been missing. Now, your average user is in the 5 to 15 mbps range. Google will be offering 1 gbps (1,000 mbps). You'll be able to stream hi def movies at that speed.

Oh, that's awesome! I have such a love/hate relationship with Google!

I stream hi-def stuff on roku at my current 5-15 mbps... I think gigabit internet is more of a main-pipeline thing than it is a boon to individual users... I mean, if my various internet activities actually USED the 15 mbps that is available to it, it would blow the doors off of reality.

Well, you stream Netflix movies at 720i with basic stereo sound. We're talking streaming full 1080p, 5.1 audio and the whole movie is cached in about 3 minutes, so no wait times if you've seen the first part before and want to skip to the middle. Tracking would be instantaneous.
