I happen to think Western Civilization has been in decline ever since we started sending chitty, halmark no-thought 6 dollar cards to everyone instead of sharing REAL caring sentiments with each other. That woman is obviously psychotic. So cards with your family's picture on them isn't a "real card"? I'd like to hear her thoughts on where the evolution of the Christmas card went astray.

She'd probably tell you that cards didn't evolve at all; they were created by god when he invented hallmark.

I'm certainly not going to get my drawers in a twist over Christmas cards, but I do agree with the general premise that Western civilization is in decline. But that's not really a new development.

As far as Christmas cards go, I mailed mine out really, really late this year (like just yesterday!). I've received far less this year and I cut back on my list also. I decided to hand deliver cards to those I see on a regular basis; to phase out friends I only swap cards with at Christmas; and just mail to basically elderly relatives who like to see the updated kid picture each year. Which pictures, by the way, are epic in their originality each year!.
