FF14 (what I will call it from now on) is an upcoming massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) set to release some time late next year at the earliest. Its one of those games where you cast magic spells and fight dragons and whatnot. The game will probably be designed to run beautifully on newer computers but should still function on older ones. There will be a monthly fee to play when it comes out proper, but the beta will release first for testing and during beta, its going to be free.

Thought I would start a thread to see if anyone is interested in forming a "clan" (group of players who fight along side each other to help themselves advance through the game faster) during the beta. I will keep my finger on the pulse of the game and let you know when beta registration is available. We can play together and test out the game; if you want to quite when it becomes pay, that's fine. But if not, we will have a head start on other players and be able to move through the game at a faster pace with each other's help.

What was that one about a decade ago? It was like second life, but this was before second life... Ascheron's Call?

I never got into those kinds of things... but I'd half-consider doinking around for free during beta

Yeah, I played Final Fantasy XII (the last one that was MMO) for over a year, but it required so much time! I finally gave it up because after that year, I was like 5% of the way through the game. I just didn't play often enough. XIV is supposed to be balanced so you can get a rewarding experience out of it even if you can't put in that huge time investment.
