In Sundays editoral the editor was complaining that North Strabane has too much money and poor Washington didn't have enough. He used this to once again make his push for all local communities joining Washington to bail them out of thier financial hole. Washington's main problem is it has very few, if any high wage earners which reduce its tax base. It also has very few up scale houses which also affect its revenue. A drive around the city will show you that there are many run down areas that should be cleared and lot sizes adjusted to attrach high wage earners. washington must clean up its image as a dead city in decay, it must reduce its crime rate and maybe it will increase its revenues. Washingto must make these decesions on its own and not hope the rest of us will ride to the rescue. It has allowed itself to reach this low point. Being located at the junction of two major highways, I expected Washington to become a virbrant city and attract jobs but in the last 35 years more jobs have been lost the decay continues. _________________ George |

If N.Strabane has a lot of money, why did my taxes go up over 300 bucks?

Why have these jobs left and where did they go, maybe on a slow boat to China? or South America? |

Bus your taxes went up because Washington got more than its fair share of the tax reduction frorm gambling. It was the editor that said you guys had all the cash, not me. Maybe he will be kind enough to answer your questions. _________________ George |

Not blaming you George, guess I am getting sick of seeing us going down the out sourcing toilet with our main sources of income going with it and these dam polititions from top to bottom acting like mongloid freaking idiots making non sense remarks like "economy is getting better'(for who?) when even today more and more of us are falling into poverty. |

The news editors write one every once in awhile urging local governments to merge. I seem to recall that four of them merged to run a park together and it was a dismal failure. _________________

Yes, but the point always seems to be we should all merge with Washington. Washington has nothing to offer except debt, crime and decay. No other municipality will rush to merge its tax base with Washington's. _________________ George |
