Well put, Ondi. It is ok to have faith of this nature, yet people vehemitly belittle those who do.
But have no fear of placing ,literally, blind faith or trust, in their broker, banker, baker, and Toyota Car maker. |

Jews don't really await the arrival of the messiah. They just live their lives as good as they can, trying to be good people. But the messiah has not come yet.

your quote is based on scripture written well after the death of Jesus. It is no more reliable than a tabloid headline on the National Enquirer. If I wrote that a Banana with googly eyes sits by god in heaven, you would call me crazy. But if I had written 1800 years ago, would you still?

This is not a true statement. Please provide me with your reference to this in the Tanakh. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

At least Jesus, according to the Gospels, knew the Scriptures. All Phony seems to know to do with the Bible is try to beat people over the head with his interpretation of it. _________________ "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." ~Martin Luther King Jr.

Phony, you are right that Genesis presents a lot of historical facts, and Brant is right that it is not a historical textbook. . ..
Lately I’ve been reading a Good Book telling of Gods building the earth and breathing life into clay to make man and then killing off his creation with many days and nights of rain. …Mankind died, except for one man, who with God’s inspiration, built a big boat and filled it with animals. When the flood receded, the man sent out a dove to search for land…..Later, we hear of Gods sleeping with a human woman who has a child with magical powers…
The sacred text was unearthed in Babylon, just a stone’s throw from Jerusalem…It’s called the Epic of Gilgamesh, and predates the Book of Moses by many hundreds of years….
These books lack proof of divine intervention, so they remain open to interpretation, allowing atheists the freedom to reject it all, and offer believers the freedom to accept the underlying message…..

Phoney, do not disparage those of the Jewish faith. Jesus was a Jew. Cy is in training to learn more of the Jewish faith and that is a good thing.
Cy, actually that came from "The Apostles Creed" and I don't know if it was written 1800 years ago.
Religion is a fun topic here, we get thought or opinions that range from zealot fanatics to the cast and crew of the "Jersy Shore People"
As for me, I will adhere to the wisdom of ONDI, "faith is a personal issue" |

It was written before 400 CE and as early as 180 CE and was loosely based on a bit of Matthew.

I wish more people thought that way. Proselytizing is so annoying. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

Thanks, Bus...
Phony--my position hasn't changed. This is what I have been saying all along. And how is Obama trying to outlaw this type of discussions? _________________ "If by a 'Liberal' they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people — their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights and their civil liberties ... if that is what they mean by a 'Liberal,' then I’m proud to say I’m a 'Liberal.'" ~ Senator John F.
