SSSS, there you go again.....sounding more like a conservative instead of a RINO....
But, here it is.....GET READY, GET THE VASOLINE OUT....AND BEND OVER.
President Barack Obama's new deficit commission might give Americans a slap in the face about the sacrifices needed to avoid bankrupting future generations -- maybe working until age 70, paying higher taxes and spending more of their own money for doctors' visits and prescriptions.

Reposting from yesterday's post in one of Phony's other threads on this topic to which i linked in my preceding post in this thread:
Quote: | From David Leonhardt in yesterday's NYT's Economy section: Quote: | Imagine if, one year ago, Congress had passed a stimulus bill that really worked.
Let’s say this bill had started spending money within a matter of weeks and had rapidly helped the economy. Let’s also imagine it was large enough to have had a huge impact on jobs — employing something like two million people who would otherwise be unemployed right now.
If that had happened, what would the economy look like today?
Well, it would look almost exactly as it does now. Because those nice descriptions of the stimulus that I just gave aren’t hypothetical. They are descriptions of the actual bill.
Just look at the outside evaluations of the stimulus. Perhaps the best-known economic research firms are IHS Global Insight, Macroeconomic Advisers and Moody’s Economy.com. They all estimate that the bill has added 1.6 million to 1.8 million jobs so far and that its ultimate impact will be roughly 2.5 million jobs. The Congressional Budget Office, an independent agency, considers these estimates to be conservative. |

Every leading US economic index is reporting that the Recovery Act has created or saved at least 1.2 million jobs in the past year. This has been confirmed by the CBO. Add to that the fact that the unemployment rate has finally started to trend downwards after spiraling upwards for the past few years. Yet in the face of such overwhelming validation of job creation, Phony persists in his prejudiced disbelief.
The specific numbers involved may be arguable, but not the fact that the Recovery Act has been successful in saving and creating jobs.
Yet somehow, Phony knows better than the leading economists throughout the country. Phony persists in lauding his delusional assertions despite any and all the evidence to the contrary.
So let me get this straight - in Phony's brand of irrationality, reaching conclusions based upon verifiable facts that are also validated by a vast majority of economists as well as the nonpartisan CBO is being gullible. But mindlessly and repeatedly mouthing an opinion that contradicts all available objective evidence and even further, continuing to deny that the evidence even exists is a sound basis for gloating and reveling in an imagined failure? Brain damage - that's the kindest explanation for Phony's absurdity.
And the Phony wondered just a few days ago why i called his integrity into question? Looks like his sanity is even more questionable. _________________ "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." ~Martin Luther King Jr.

So the (arguably) two most willfully ignorant and opinionated (in the worst sense of the word) people in the forum agree with each other against all objective data to the contrary.
Quelle surprise. _________________ "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." ~Martin Luther King Jr.

Subject: Fw: The Stimulus.....
Due to the current financial situation caused by the slowdown in the economy, Congress decided to implement a scheme to put workers of 50 years of age and above on early retirement, thus creating jobs and reducing unemployment....
This scheme will be known as RAPE (retire Aged People Early).
Persons selected to be RAPED can apply to Congress to be considered for the SHAFT program (Special Help After Forced Termination).
Persons who have been RAPED and SHAFTED will be reviewed under the SCREW program (System Covering Retired-Early Workers).
A person may be RAPED once, SHAFTED twice and SCREWED as many times as Congress deems appropriate.
Persons who have been RAPED could get AIDS (Additional Income for Dependents & Spouse) or HERPES ( Half Earnings for Retired Personnel Early Severance).
Obviously persons who have AIDS or HERPES will not be SHAFTED or SCREWED any further by Congress.
Persons who are not RAPED and are staying on will receive as much SHIT (Special High Intensity Training) as possible. Congress has always prided themselves on the amount of SHIT they give our citizens.
Should you feel that you do not receive enough SHIT, please bring this to the attention of your Congressman, who has been trained to give you all the SHIT you can handle.
Sincerely,
The Committee for EconomicValue of Individual Lives (E.V.I.L.)
PS.
Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of Electricity, gas and oil, as well as current market conditions, the Light at the End of the Tunnel has been turned off. |
