It's not exactly empty revenge the kid is owed about $2500 on UE comp. Enough to pay off his car and pay on the student loans. If we all cave to people like that what happens? They always win and we always lose!

Dazes--my poor hubby used to work for a crazy beeatch like that...This woman did to my hubby pretty much the same thing that you describe they did to your son. My hubby never filed for unemployment bc he got another job that same week, but I'm sure she would've also denied firing him to avoid paying unemployment! I say fight as long as you can w/o spending money! You're right, if no one ever fights them, they'll always win. Good luck to you guys!

My experience with U/C was from my prior employer. I was there 17 years and the last six months I knew my job was moving downtown Pittsburgh from the 'burbs. I was offered a promotion (but no higher pay), but didn't want to travel so I declined. I didn't quit. I just left when I was done cleaning out the soon-to-be closed office. I collected U/C for five months before my former employer challenged it. By the time I got to the appeal hearing my benefits were nearly expired anyway. The employer came prepared with a job description that wasn't available when I left and an attorney. I was alone and lost. But I won since I received nearly six months of U/C. My employer wasn't being a jerk, I think they waited to help me out. But it was one of the worst things I ever went through.

you have a notebook...?
and it has dates and events listed in pencil and ink...?
and it includes witnesses' corroborations...?
and it has coffee cup smears and spaghetti sauce stains...?
and it details a litany of verbal abuse and intimidation...?
If you do, your case is secure...If not, Boo needs to move on

dick, I think my advice is pretty clear, if not quite honorable...And excess in the pursuit of justice, which this situation clearly demands,
sometimes requires help from someone who is as dirty as New York snow....When you hire a lawyer, you don't search for the nicest one

Mr. Green Oh yeah... I'm sure a judge would believe that a graphic designer kept a diary of the daily occurances at work. That doesn't seem too far fetched at all. Evidence is evidence... until its fraud.

At my hearing, I was not permitted to use any notes! (But I didn't know until I got there.) The final agreement asked that I pay back the U/C I had received (yeah, right), but did not demand repayment. But, if I became unemployed from a new position within the next 3 years, a percentage of any U/C benefits I received would be deducted to repay the prior claim. Instead, I remained unemployed. Wink

That's too funny, amom! So they just said, "please, pretty please can you give us our money back? we really, really want it!" Laughing
