They all depend on the strategy at this point. Both teams, unless I'm mistaken, are basically as set as they can be for playoffs. They're both locked in as 1 seeds. They have nothing to play for these next three weeks except consistency at the risk of injury. So the question of whether or not they go perfect at least partly rests on whether or not they start first string.
The Saints have the Cowboys, the Bucs and the Panthers to go.
If they go with starters: They'll sweep, easily. The Cowboys are the most challenging of the three and they suck in December.
If they rest starters: They might get tripped up at either Dallas or a surprise upset from division rivals, but they wouldn't lose more than one. Still, 15-1 isn't 16-0. The question is if they want undefeated badly enough.
The Colts have the Jags, Jets and Bills left.
If they go with starters: There's an off chance the Jets' D, if they are on a good night, will give them fits and pull off an upset, but the Colts will certainly be favored in all three games. Chances are the pull them all off.
If they rest starters: I don't think they have the chops to beat the Jets and the Jags could make them stumble too. They'll still off the Bills, finishing 14-2.
So, do you think either team rests starters, or is the chance at eternal greatness too tempting? And what would you do? Is risking injury and an early playoff exit too much for you? Does a better shot at a SB outweigh the glory of 19-0? _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

The 'Aints are going for the perefect record no doubt. They might rest the starters if they have a lead, but otherwise they are going for it.
The Colts starters will still start, but if they get a lead the will sit them pretty quick. Manning is still 2nd on the consective starts list he wants that record I think. _________________ JD

Yeah, Mannings consecutive start streak will no doubt mean he plays at least a drive or two. Coach Caldwell was just quoted yesterday:
Quote: | "The only thing that will deter anyone from playing time is health issue, whether or not obviously they're capable of playing," Caldwell said. "But other than that we're going to play ball and approach it the same way we do every week." |
Which is probably more of a locker room ploy to keep his team focused. I bet we see a lot of Jim Sorgi at QB and Reggie Wayne sitting a game or so because of injury.
Honestly, I don't think either team cares about 16-0. Its all about getting into the playoffs, and then winning the Super Bowl. _________________

Sorgi is out for the year. The Colts' backup quarterback is some kid. _________________

They already said the Colts are playing starters against the Jags, so it'll be Manning and crew for at least one more game. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

The Colts sat defensive ends Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis for most of the game to rest them for the playoffs. I wonder if they'll sit banged up guys like Reggie Wayne next week. _________________

You have to wonder if the offense is going to run out of making TD's the defense gives away. The Colts caught a big break on the kick-off return for a td last night. |

I'd love to see both teams undefeated and in the Super Bowl, because that would mean it would be the last time I'd have to hear Mercury Morris interviewed. _________________

I get a kick out of Mercury. Its entertaining watching an old man ramble on like he does after sipping some champagne. _________________
