Seems like that was a long time ago.

Quote:
According to reporters on the scene, Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett was nowhere to be found after the team's 17-7 loss in Green Bay on Sunday. On Wednesday, Garrett finally surfaced. He was asked why Marion Barber, Felix Jones and Tashard Choice combined for 11 carries in the game. But it's not like he really got to the heart of it.

"That’s something that I think we’ve done a good job of this year,” said Garrett on Monday. “You always want to attack the defense with as many things as you can. It starts with the run and pass. It starts with running it inside, running it outside, throwing it long, throwing it short and using different personnel groups and different players. That’s what we’re always trying to do. Sometimes game situations throw that out of whack.”

I assume the "game situation" refers to Tony Romo getting sacked repeatedly, putting the Cowboys in bad down-and-distance situations. But you can avoid those situations if you run the ball on first down every now and then. Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers called Garrett's offense one-dimensional after Sunday's game. Here's what Garrett said about that today:

"You don’t want to be one-dimensional in anything you do,” said Garrett. “You don’t want to just be an inside running team. You don’t just want to be an outside running team. You don’t just want to be a drop back team. You want to be able to move the quarterback, you want to be able to run the ball, play-action, drop back.

"The more you can do, the harder it is on the defense. At the same time, you need to have an identity. Identity is important, too. You don’t want to be all things to all people, but you want to be good at a lot of different things."

After watching Sunday's game, I'm not sure what the identity is.

I can't remember another time in the recent past where someone said so little in so many words. 99% of that was totally redundant.
