To the driver of the Lincoln Towncar: thank you for pulling out across two lanes of traffic without looking in front of me so that I had no time to stop, making unavoidable my brakes-locked 30 mph collision with the side of your vehicle, the look of confusion and, yes, perhaps mild understanding that you effed up big time, now ingrained on my retinas, which hurt like hell by the way, just like ever other bone, muscle and organ in my body.

A much less sarcastic thank you for having the decency to immediately ask me if I was okay because, you know, you tried to kill me.

And a genuine thank you to the police and firefighters of Mt. Lebanon who made the whole ordeal as close to pleasant as it could be, mostly by determining on the spot that the other driver was at fault. That makes the insurance part easier for me.

Sheesh, mindless drivers like that should have their licenses suspended until they complete a few month's worth of driving instruction and can pass the driver's test again, at least. Was the stupid driver texting?

No, he got waved out by someone in the right lane, which was stopped all the way back so I couldn't see over it and he couldn't see over it. He assumed the left lane was clear too and popped out. So the real moral is, don't let random people wave you into the course of another car.

We had a car totalled this exact way years ago! Don't trust waving people! Glad you are OK. How's the car?

By law, the person that waved out the vehicle that caused the accident could be fined.

That's why I hate driving anywhere near Pittsburgh. The sheer number and percentage of bad drivers goes up exponentially.
