Well, it was the other guy's insurance that said that. His is probably crap; I don't know much about State Farm. USAA is legit. They won't lead me astray. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

Is the NADA value on your car lower than the repair bill? _________________ "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." ~Martin Luther King Jr.

Its about a $2,000 difference in favor of my car according to KBB, but that's suggested retail. The repairs cost more than the trade-in value. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

Its better in that if they repaired the car, it wouldn't have been worth the cup of Starbucks coffee in the cup holder when I tried to sell it or trade it in later. In this case I get 10 grand for it which is like if I had sold it the day before the wreck.
But it still sucks because I can't replace it for 10 K so basically, I did everything right but because of some other jackasses inability to use common sense while driving, I'm going to be out 7 or 8 K of my own savings (or a monthly car payment which I was very happy about not having before). _________________ The end is nigh! That's too bad. But now you get to go car shopping! You know you don't have to go new and should be able to pick up a decent used one for ten grand. (Craigslist is your friend.) _________________ -amom

Yeah, but I've had bad experiences with used cars. It will be painful, but we can afford to go new. I actually kind of want a hybrid, but that's still a bit out of our price range, even with the insurance money. Ultimately, we'll probably end up getting either another Civic or a Subaru Impreza (for the AWD). _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Good Deal! : http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/ctd/1489701298.html
Ours just hit 80,000 miles. We will probably be replacing next year, or just adding to the fleet. _________________ -amom

Yeah... but I think you can get close to 30k with options. It's a 2010 model, so it might be "new"... Like, someone ordered one and then didn't take delivery or it was a demo or something like that... _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! There are five piers of MSRP for the 2010's starting at $22,400 and going up to $27,670. But, if they are anything like our 2004 Prius, that's basic price and any package is an add on. Ours was around $22,000 total, if I remember correctly. _________________ -amom

Will be picking up the new whip tomorrow evening. Had to drop almost 8 grand of my own savings to get it because of someone else's inability to drive properly. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |
