.A couple paragraphs from Time Magazine:
Inspirational words have brought him a long way - including to the night in Grant Park less than a year ago when he asked that we "join in the work of remaking this nation the only way it's been done in America for two-hundred and twenty-one years - block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand." (See pictures of Obama in Grant Park.)
By now there are surely more callouses on his lips than his hands. He, like every new president, has reckoned with both the power and the danger of words, dangers that are especially great for one who wields them as skillfully as he. A promise beautifully made raises hopes especially high: we will revive the economy while we rein in our spending; we will make health care simpler, safer, cheaper, fairer. We will rid the earth of its most lethal weapons. We will turn green and clean. We will all just get along. (See pictures of eight months of Obama's diplomacy.)

Phony, do tell, was that from a column in Time? Because columnists do have an opinion, and some magazines present a variety of them. _________________

I don't see this as harsh criticism...And even if it was, criticizing someone doesn't mean you've turned on them...I appreciate Obama trying to rule from the middle and wanting to explore options before taking action. But he does need a kick in the derrière and pressure from the people so that he's stops trying to please everyone and starts doing what we (those of us that voted for him) elected him to do... _________________ "If by a 'Liberal' they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people — their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights and their civil liberties ... if that is what they mean by a 'Liberal,' then I’m proud to say I’m a 'Liberal.'" ~ Senator John F. Thanks for the link. It's an opinion piece. Newspapers and magazines run those, and if it's a good newspaper or magazine, at least from my perspective, they should provide you with a variety of points of view. I wouldn't subscribe to a magazine that did nothing but praise Obama, just as I wouldn't subscribe to one that did nothing but bash him. _________________

I took several history courses in college that I enjoyed a lot. I even took one on West Virginia history. Now there's a place where the entire population might be traced to the same two people. _________________

Stop it! That is no way to talk about Sen. Byrd and his family.

Interesting that you say that, because I just sketched out the editorial pages for the next three days, and the editorial cartoons on each of them could be considered as negative toward Obama. And I don't remember putting any worshipful columns on the docket, either. _________________
