The only difference now is that the G.O.P. is in a weaker position, having lost control not just of Congress but, to a large extent, of the terms of debate. The public no longer buys conservative ideology the way it used to; the old attacks on Big Government and paeans to the magic of the marketplace have lost their resonance. Yet conservatives retain their belief that they, and only they, should govern.

Yeah, once OSAMA plays his cards out, and falls flat on his azz, and he will, since he has no concept of where the country is heading, militarily and economically, THE GOP WILL DO AS THEY HAVE DONE IN THE PAST.....retake control of the government....

It is imperative that we pass the stimulus now, so jobs could be saved and more created. Stop Global warming now, so the planet will be saved, pass the health bill right now , so reform can be achieved, wait on Afghanistan because they don't vote democratic!!

Yeah, because all those things are clearly unimportant and worth joking about.

Especially the "Services jobs" created today and had the market on a role, so all of you electricians, mechanic, tool and die makers, etc, if you didn't get a lawn mowing job today, then you better hope for a lot of snow this winter, could catch on there if you know somebody.

Fresh air and exercise and you won't get sick. so no need for health care.

Global Warming is only espoused to get our minds off of being unemployed and at war.

Afganistanan will have yet another "new" commander, preferably one who uses the "CHAIN OF COMMAND" and not the media while on duty to express his wishes or complaints. Kind of a military thing to do when serving. Lucky he isn't being court martialed.

Fear Mongers?

By DEVLIN BARRETT, Associated Press Writer Devlin Barrett, Associated Press Writer – 7 mins ago
WASHINGTON – Attorney General Eric Holder said Tuesday the alleged terror plot disrupted in New York was "one of the most serious in the United States since Sept. 11, 2001" — but he gave no indication when more arrests might be made.

In a question-and-answer session with reporters, Holder said prosecutors will bring all those involved in the plot to justice.

"There are people both in this country and also abroad who are committed to harming the American people and they're actively plotting to do so," Holder said.

So now you're saying that there aren't really anti-American terrorists out there? Or do you believe there still are, it's just if anyone in a Democratic Administration points it out, they're only fear-mongering?

tetriS, you of all people shouldn't be playing this game. As the one who always wants to claim that Democrats are the one's being partisan, you should be supportive of a decision you would be defending if it were made by a Republican administration instead of trying to imply Democrats are hypocrites. It only makes you look like a hypocrite.

You both missed my point. When Ridge/Bush/Cheney raised the terror alert level or tried to warn that there were people out there that want to kill you and your way of life, all I heard was that Bush and Cheney were fear mongering. This was very prevelaqnt during the 04 campaign.

I KNOW there are terror cells out there. I "get it". And I applaud the current President for "getting it" and keeping many of Bush's mechanisms in place for dealing with them. If your recall I have praised him for this on here before. I defended these actions when Bush did it and I defend these actions when Obama does it.

Okay. I think I'll wait for more details before I determine if I think the right thing was done.

If it prevented American deaths, how could it be the wrong thing.
