I guess the people who made the decision not to go there care. Particularly about the safety of of everyone who would venture into that 8th door of DANTE OBAMA'S INFERNO.

He's been doing a pretty good job of leading so far. This was the first time he really stepped away during a time of need. At least he went to do something for the country though instead of kicking back on a ranch in Texas.

Yeah, that day he took while still remaining accessible by phone, internet, etc., really was an obstacle to any progress. Rolling Eyes What's next? Taking an inordinate number of vacation days to clear brush from a ranch or something? Wink

Of course Bush had access to phone or email when on his huge number of vacation days. i'm just wondering if the folks who are bsuily parroting the rightie rhetoric about "Obama taking time away from important domestic/foreign policy issues" were as vocal in their criticisms of GWB? Or were they as happy to give him a pass as they are to criticize President Obama? Wink

I know the objection that I had about the trip was that he didn't not go to lobby simply for the USA but for Chicago. I don't ever recall a president and the first lady going to lobby for their hometown. Usually it would be up to the city council, mayor or Governor of a state that was interested in hosting the event. It may not be, but it sure reeks of impropriety. Obama again was putting himself in a position to be ridiculed. He better start making smart decisions about how he presents himself to the independent voters, or his usefulness to this country and the office of the Presidency will be done. He is coming across even to the most nonchalant as a joke.
