Yes its kinds funny how some libs never got over excoriating GW. I still hear people saying he stole the 2000 election. It was really too convenient to hate Bush, it was much easier than trying to be informed by the facts! You are so right Amphy, it is much easier to have a scapegoat! |
True dat. For the record, i didn't and don't hate GWB, but i freely admit to finding little to appreciate in the man. i think his policies were train wrecks, by and large. As i've said before, New Mexicans are hard pressed to like anything that has the taint of Texas.

CY-I expect an extreme answer from you and you seldom dissapoint-especially when you cannot find a better answer. But the answer to your point is this-my wife is not suspected of wanting to wipe the United States off the face of the earth.
ME maybe-but she is Ok with the U.S. !

That's a REALLY flimsy barrier... you basically allow anyone to be tortured just because of suspicion... Why stop at terrorism?
If someone is suspected of stealing a car, why not hose em down with ice water and leave him naked in a basement for a few days?
Someone kinda sorta looks like a guy on a surveillance video of a bank robbery? Keep him awake for a week and see if he squeals.
"Do you have drugs in the car?"
"no"
"Bring in the rack!"

E- becasue of the SCALE of damage a terrorist can do as opposed to one street corner that can be ruined by a drug dealer.
as for the car thief analogy-makes me wonder what impact that would have of the number of car thefts? Hmmmmmmmmm!

Who determines how big of an impact the terrorism would cause?
The unabomber only killed a handful of people... there have been car accidents that kill more people than that terrorist.
What happens if we torture an innocent civilian? I'd sue the pants off of anyone with pants if I got waterboarded for looking like someone else or checking out the wrong book at the library...

I don't think that it is silly to say that not all terrorists kill thousands of people at a time... nor is it silly to think that we might subject a completely innocent person to torture...
Richard Jewel... accused of TERRORISM... Completely innocent.
Should we have tortured him?

I am not convicned Jewel was "completely" innocent. BIG difference between Not Guilty and innocent...and it IS silly to equate the subject with taking a library book.
