I don't think Doumit will be a member of the Pirates by the end of next season. I feel similarly about LaRoche...the one that's till here. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

The starters were pretty darn decent dick, if 4 are gone it's because they have too many, only need 5. have what, 10? |

Doumit may be iffy, Adam, think the shock of losing his brother has passed now. hard to replace that glove and he can hit. |

That was Cylinser that mentioned 4 starting pitchers being gone next season, not me. If Duke, Maholm, or Olendorf played for a team who could give them some run support, they could be 15... dare I say 20 game winners (yea, I'm pushing it w/ 20).
By the way, why did Russell take Zach Duke out last night after pitching 8 2/3 scoreless innings? One more out and he has a complete game. |

You are operating under the assumption that Pirates management is trying to field a good team. Pirates management is trying to field a cheap team. LaRoche will be gone BECAUSE he is getting good.
By the way, I was talking about four starting players FROM THE WHOLE TEAM being gone, not just four pitchers. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

Does Duke have a "complete game" bonus in his contract? _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

I heard that theory, and (again, from what I've heard) no he doesn't.
And I also love the way Andy Laroche hits line drives all over the field.... and hits em hard! He only makes around $500,000 a year, so I don't know that he is a great trade candidate. But maybe they'll want to rush Alvarez up or put Walker back at 3rd. |

No wait, just looked it up. Laroche is eligible for arbitration after the '10 season. He's as good as gone. |

thought that would get your attention, would like Freddy though, someonein the organization said the other day they would be looking at players and that would include some that we traded. |

they should all have one, not that they would ever get a chance to use it. |

I agree with you 1000%, and saying that to anyone who follows the buc's,, half or more of their ERA's are the result of Pirate frustration then poor pitching.

The Dodgers will probably give us Manny(and a gross of steroids) for him after this past weekend. |

Amen, watched him a while back leave 11 runners on base in just one game. |
