I was also a Pirate fan from childhood-but the ownership back then was more interested in putting forth a winning product. They did not trade away every player who hits above 230!

They traded Adam LaRoche and he was a .180 hitter. Don't underestimate the Buccos.

I suggest that if the Pirates have another losing season next year, the "B" in Bucos should be permanently replaced with an "F."

I would sign that petition! And I bet I could get a couple hundred others to sign it. A more appropriate change would be to make the first letter an "S". Thats a movement that even the children could get in on.

And you don't???

Do you really think that I'm an instant gratification whiner? Was it the fact that I won't support the Pirates after 17 losing seasons? Or my conservative approach to keeping good players in the clubhouse?

What is "instant" about my 16 years of patience? I know a lot of smarter people who gave up after 12 or 13 losing seasons. If anything, we're fools for giving them our ticket and consession money, our internet hits, and our tv ratings.

If they kept some guys, they could have put a decent team on the field and created a little excitment. Even if they doubled their payroll, the left side of the Yankees infield (Jeter & ARod) would still make more than our entire team combined.

Anyway, I ensure a good nights sleep by watching 45 seconds of porn. You have to sit through a Bucco game where they take 45 seconds between pitches.

Ours is not to reason why,
Nor to whine,wimper, or cry;
We love the Pirates,win or lose,
and do so because that is what we choose.

Sit in the stands and madly cheer,
Filling our tummies with nachos and beer;
And if we are so lucky to see a single or double,
Then it is worth all the trouble.

45 seconds dick, is all you got?,
Not enough time to even get "hot";
Not to be cruel, or hurt your pride,
But the "Racers" at Kennywood, gives a longer"ride". Laughing

Have fun today dick

Dick, Bud Selig has been keeping an eye on the pirates and today says they are on the right track and not doing these trades for money, but to enhance the program to field a better team. So lets all hang in there.

no one probably watched last night's game but me so;

Remember how everyone ragged on the bull pen for giving up so many runs, and they did? So Tracy came up with a remarkable idea last night or he had no one to start, but he used the bull pen all night.

Five relievers -- Jeff Karstens, Donnie Veal, Steven Jackson, Jesse Chavez and Matt Capps -- teamed to get it done last night before 19,452 at PNC Park, ending the Pirates' latest losing streak at six, as well as that 3-23 stretch that was the franchise's worst in such a span since 1890.

May be the future way to go, do it every year in the All-Star game.

Why didn't you think of this dick, too much self deprecation is what I think? Crying or Very sad

I don't trust our bullpen when they hand them the ball in the 7th inning let alone the 1st. And they gave Karstens the start... he was a starter just a few months back. Its not that far fetched.

Last time I paid the Pirates any attention, they didn't even have a lefty in relief.

I wonder if the Pirates are giving away a bunch of stuff since today is the final home game. If not, that's going to be one empty ballpark.

And I should respect the opinion of Bud Selig, why?

Steriods, the '94 strike, the '02 All-Star game, reinstating George Steinbrenner, not reinstating Pete Rose...

I like the Wild Card (I'd expand it more)... and Interleague play is alright, though it has lost its luster.

Selig is the worst commissioner in sports. He is partially to blame for the lack of competition in MLB. Personally, I can't stand him.
