I believe the green man is standard outside of the US. I've grown accustomed to the red exit sign though and wouldn't know what to do without it. Even when the exit sign is green, my brain sees that font and those letters as a picture more than a word anymore, and I immediately know I'm looking at an exit. As a picture, the man means nothing to me.

This topic was getting lonely. I thought the exit sign story was a little off the wall, but I think the same way Cy does. That little green dude wouldn't get me out of a paper bag.
