Did anyone else with Dish network have trouble with the local channels this weekend? All the non-local stuff works fine but mid-day Sunday we got the blue screen saying basically “we know there’s a problem. We’re working on it, don’t bother us by calling”. They were out all afternoon and evening yesterday and still out this morning.

it's Pittsburgh, you are lucky you got a blue screen, or Mayor Luke has them shoveling snow.

is it true Luke went skiing when Snowgeddon struck?

No to dish network, but on a related note, my landlord who lives below me lost his cable over the weekend too; line snapped.

I think its funny all the people with cable and dish lost their TV that they are paying for because of the weather, and here I am with my antennae getting crystal clear HD for free without a hitch all the way through the snow storms.

My wife just emailed me to say that all the local channels don't have sound...

Anyone else having this issue?

You get HD w/out an HD box? Just an antenna? Do you run it through your computer or something?

The downstairs TV has a converter, but its still free TV off the antennae. All free channels are HD now. My upstairs TV is 720p HD ready, so its just straight from the antennae to the screen.

Yeah, I knew they switched to all digital. I just didn't realize that you would consider that HD.

It is HD, not just digital. All the local stations broadcast in 720p at least.

Just checked, here's the listing:

WTAE 720p
KDKA 1080i
WPXI 1080i
WPGH 720p
WCWB 1080i
And the various PBS stations are all 720p

weird, my called me down saying there is no sound on the tv, and I have Comcast, but no channels had sound. But the upstairs tv works fine although it has no dvr box, just cable.

comcast and I have this thing about the dvr box as i have had at least 5 and 3 recently.

It deletes scheduled tapings all by itself, hops channels in the guide, and simply shows a blank screen(screen freezes) at any given time while you are watching. Sometimes I have to sometimes change channel and come back to get what I was watching.

I suspect who makes their boxes also make the electronics for Toyota's brakes and gas pedal.

Anyhow I got the thing working except the tv remote will not work anything and if I adjust the volume on the set itself then try to use the tv remote, the sound goes off.

the tv remote is not compatable with Comcast's remote. It will not turn the tv on/off or work the sound. My next job is to read the instruction book about the remote to see if there is something there or buy a new remote.

I am once again the victum of cheap imported crap as the (18 month old Sylvania, aka some Asian country ,remote) is trash. have to buy a new tv now.
