Similar OS, really fast chipset... I wouldn't say they made a big iPhone so much as they made a macbook run iPhone OS (and got rid of the keyboard)---

They haven't announced pricing yet, but rumors put it in the range of an unsubsidized iPhone (700 dollars).

So far, it's a cool device, but unless Jobs comes back with one of those "Oh, and ONE MORE THING" killer app things, I think I can pass on it...

499.00

You can opt for prepaid 3g for 14.99 a month for 250g or unlimited for 29.99

Prepaid... so it's non-contract, through ATT

One of the accessories is a keyboard dock... This is what I wanted to see... this arguably becomes a desktop replacement for people who can live on apps and cloud apps.

I'm feeling like if you already have 3g on your phone, you're not going to go out of your way to get it for this device as well. I mean, I'm assuming it'll connect to wifi too.

All of them are wifi... Wifi are the "base" model at each price point (3 price points) and with 3g they are marginally more

If I got one, it would be wifi only... I would use my phone out and about before using that thing... I would use my phone while walking... I'm going to sit down somewhere with wifi to use the tablet...

500 bucks is pretty good though...

Meh. I'd be interested if it came with a stylus for drawing in an art program and included some apps like garage band from the start.

There is a new art program called brushes that you could use... I have never used garage band, so I don't really know what to say about that Smile

I wanted it to be able to be controlled via apple remote or an iphone... so that you could connect it to a tv for streaming stuff Smile

Interesting read: http://content.usatoday.com/communities/greenhouse/post/2010/01/is-apples-recyclable-chemical-free-ipad-really-green-/1?csp=34

I like this part:
Quote:
There are power costs, too, for e-devices. The Center for Sustainable Communications in Stockholm, Sweden, conducted a study showing that reading a newspaper on a computer for 30 minutes can have the same carbon dioxide emissions as the print product itself.
