Try some cayennes now, might do your throat some good. |

That would have been a good idea, but the throat is already better. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

You are going to kill all the plants after planting them???
Anyhow, last year I canned 6 qts. hot peppers just I have done for a long time.
50% white vinegar--50% water solution.
I opened a jar a few weeks ago and the peppers, little green tomatoes, and little white onions were all soft and kind of mushy . The jars are all pefectly sealed Never happened ever before.
Today noticed the white vinegar jug was not the brand I normally use and I don't remember where I bought it.
Not owning a hydrometer to check the spg , I have to guess the vinegar was overly diluted for those to get that soft in such a short time .
Will use only Heinz even if I have to go all town to find it. |

Bus, I'm the same way when it comes to canning or making jelly. Only name brands! I tried to make jelly with a store brand of sugar once and it was terrible. Just one step thicker than juice! _________________ -amom

That is why I don't buy Wal-Mart brand either, if you compare Heinz and Wal Mart apple cider vinegar ( next to each other on the shelf there) you can see the difference, Heinz-dark brown, Wallys-tan, have to assume the white is watered down too after seeing that.
But at Wally's, some of their brands are made by the name brand company's. When they finish their brand name quota, they simply change container labels and keep running product in Great Value labeled containers.
When there was the JIF? peanut butter recall a while back, they also recalled Wallys great value peanut butter because it was all from the same batch.
Same for the Equal brand drugs of Wal-Mart( the allergy pill is the same )

I don't think Jif was recalled. That's my brand, and it's the gold standard. There are some items where I'm not all that concerned about buying an "off" brand. I'll buy the cheapest sugar (I'm not a baker) and store-brand frozen veggies, but I'm a stickler for Heinz vinegar, Heinz ketchup, Hellmann's mayo and Purina One dog food. I would never put my dogs' health at risk by feeding them crap. _________________

I think it was Peter Pan that was recalled. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |
