This is a heads up to any fire fox users on the forum... there is an extension called FasterFox that... well... makes firefox faster
I just installed it yesterday on my Flock browser (flock is really Firefox... just optimized for social networking and "busy" websurfers)...
I haven't gotten to play around with it much... but what it does is make web-surfing faster but pre-loading stuff in webpages and doing things that can be done ahead of time in order to make the transition faster. The one feature I noticed today that I really like is extending a webpage rather than making you go "next page"...
I read a lot of news and blogs and stuff like that online... A lot of news stories take up several "pages" in that you get to the bottom and click next or "2" or whatever to go to the next page of the story... On a blog, the homepage may show the 10 most recents posts and the rest are on the back pages... With Fasterfox, if you are scrolling down a page that is 1 of many, when you get to the bottom, it will load the next page and append it to the page you are reading... so instead of navigating to the next page, you just keep scrolling down. I tried it on a couple blogs and it worked great...
I'm sure it does more than that, but that's all I have noticed so far. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

Awww... Cy, you had to go & burst poor E's bubble!
How do Flock & Faster Fox compare to Google Chrome? _________________ "If by a 'Liberal' they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people — their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights and their civil liberties ... if that is what they mean by a 'Liberal,' then I’m proud to say I’m a 'Liberal.'" ~ Senator John F. Chrome is "faster" per se... but not on my computers... At work, I have an old-azz gateway laptop that is pretty slow by modern standards. Chrome treats each tab as a separate process, which makes it faster, granted that you have sufficient computing power to handle a bunch of processes.
At home, I use a mac mini... which could probably smoothly execute chrome, but I am very accustomed to flock's features... if a suite of extensions became available to make chrome mimic flock, I'd use it on my mac at home.
I use IE at work to "test" surveys for our research projects because our production offices us IE... I use Firefox to manage online work stuff and I use flock for "fun" internetting... _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! I hate IE! I use Chrome at home & work now...Maybe I'll give Flock a try! Honestly, I like whatever I am most accustomed to (except IE)... I was married to firefox and then forced myself to learn and appreciate flock... I could do the same for chrome (especially since it was just released for mac)... _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

I used Opera for a while, but I cam back to FF. I'm still going to try to use Lunascape soon and see how it works. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |
