I have 22 gigs of music and probably like 20 plus movies on my HD right now, but most of the space is taken up by large apps and games.

Well, Linux Mint didn't like my monitor - but Ubuntu did! Mint kept giving me error messages about "screens found" but not being able to display. After spending some time trying to pinpoint the changes i needed to make in qorg, i gave up.

Ubuntu installed without a hitch!

I think I may need to recut my Ubuntu disk; first burn might have screwed up. I'm trying to run it on 64 bit architecture.

So I'm going to put some time aside this weekend and try to take my external hdds and put them in some spare IDE slots inside my machine; I've decided that if I get any of these OS's working, its only going to be worth it if they're running straight into the mobo and not running off usb2. I might also scale back the total number of OSs I was going to do. Now that I see its going to be a little touch and go getting disks to burn right, I don't feel the need to prove my superiority by putting like 8 flavors of linux on here. I'll probably scale back to 4 or 5 OSs. Check the first post for my updated list.

I effing hate IDE cables that are too short. Nevertheless, both hard drives are now internailzed and working properly. This will make any Os's I install run at least normally as opposed to super slow.

Bump. If I feel like taking time out of my busy schedule of playing Final Fantasy XIII and sleeping this weekend, I may revive this project and try to get an OS or two installed and running.

Is it a problem with hardware compatibility?

What do you have installed now? OSX, win xp, vista, 7... and a few flavors of ubuntu?

I've wanted to put win 2000 on a half-way capable pc and see what it was like... I barely remember using it for a bit and I don't recall it being too much different from xp... but I can't remember the details

The only thing I have now is Vista. Nothing else will install. I knew Mac OSX would be problematic, but Ubuntu should at least boot from the CD. It won't even do that.
