Yeah, I won't lie, that "Administrator" feature is a really nice security addition to the OS and something I appreciate, but its not user friendly at all and it could have been handled better. That's one thing I'll agree with the Vista haters on. There needed to be an easy to find option somewhere to allow the computer owner to assign their account to automatically run trusted software as administrator. Anyway, to do that, right click the icon for your scanner's software and choose "Run as Administrator." You'll get a pop-up asking you if you really want to. Say yes, and you're good. Sometimes it takes a little longer to start or to give you the pop-up the first time you do it. Also, I do believe there is an option in the icon's "properties" that allows you to always run as administrator.

Me too and they were going to do away with it and still might. People really gave Bill hell so they postponed doing away with it.

If they're ditching it, I'll change. But until then, I really have no reason whatsoever to get rid of XP. It works great.

No point in changing to Vista now. 7 is out in October.

Well, here's the funny part. By version number, Vista IS Windows 6. Windows 7...is actually Windows 6.1.

I'm embarrassed to say that I found (while looking for something else of course) another CD that came with our scanner. Guess what...it's for Vista. Threw it in the drive and I now have a fully operational scanner. Embarassed

Vista is great. Never had a single problem with it for over 2 years now. No offense, but most Vista problems are user problems.

y, had to get a new pc and Vista came with it. I am so confused. Will need to talk to real soon.

One thing is "text size " will not stay uniform, goe from normal to tiny when you open another window.

Another is ,how do you make the view area on monitor, not go from 1/2 screen to a double screen?
