I have an idea for a good debate about a subject that spans professional sports, but I have to be a little vague first and ask a lead-in question to set the stage.
Rodney Harrison will be up for the Pro Football Hall of Fame soon. Disregard any feelings you may have for the team he played for, and assume that his stats are good enough by your standards to warrant a HOF vote. Do you vote for him, and if not why? _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

I have a feeling where you are going with this. Since we are assuming his stats are good enough, I don't have to look him up. Even with that said, I'm not convinced that stats are a true measure of ones worth in football, but thats for another time and place. I'll say Yes, I'd vote for him. _________________

I think you know where I'm going with this too. I'll wait for a few more people to weigh in. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

I would be more likely to vote for him than for someone like McGwire because football, particularly on the defensive side of the ball, is less numbers-oriented than baseball. Unless someone is a defensive whiz, a la Bill Mazeroski, it's really all about the numbers in baseball. Now, however, there are some folks whose numbers are skewed because they were juiced, so it's a trickier proposition. _________________

So, we have a consensus of yes or at least maybe to Harrison. What is the official response from everyone on McGwire. Yes or no? _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

Harrison is the only player in NFL history to record both 30 sacks and 30 interceptions. Thats pretty impressive. Along with his two Super Bowl rings, he has to get in. Only two Pro Bowls though. To get all of those sacks and ints, he must have relied on career longevity. Hmmmm... then he was banned for four games in the 2007 season for admitttedly using HGH.... a hormone that allows players to quickly recover from injuries and possibly prolongs ones career. Just sayin.
I'm a yes on McGwire. _________________

I'm a yes on McGwire too, and will explain why further into the discussion. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

So this never picked up...I'll just ask my question:
Why is steroids a big deal in baseball and not in football for fans?
Unrelated question: Kurt Warner, Hall of Famer? _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

Marino's already in. I think KW stamped his ticket last season and this season is icing on the cake. Before that, I don't know. Now, maybe not first ballot, but I will disappointed if he doesn't get in. I think he deserves it. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Retired Safety for the Pats for a long time, including all 3 SB wins IIRC. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

He really caught a break when that back-up he has now fizzled so badly or when the steeler coaches took over in AZ. Seized the moment and didn't let go which is what good players do. Playing in a horrible division didn't hurt either.
Other then the Rams and Giants, did he play on any other teams? |
