This is the argument used by born-again carnivores like Katzen: eating meat is not ethically wrong. Eating ethically wrong meat (i.e., the cheap, mass-processed, hormone-stuffed burgers and steaks that constitute 80 percent of the meat sold in the U.S.) is wrong.

What this explains is that vegetarianism, like religious belief, is just a personal choice, one that cannot be attacked nor defended using logic or science....Natural Selection made humans into opportunistic omnivores, able to process protein from plants or animals...That fact is undeniable...
And, then, attaching a moral significance to what a person chooses to consume, is strictly positional arrogance...A Grizzly bear (omnivore) can eat a salmon or a berry bush, with no ethical qualms...He could also eat a human, and not feel guilty...And if you could hear a chopped cabbage cry, this entire argument is lost...( Sidenote -- studies have proven that threatened plants try to defend themselves)
-----
Having said all that -- I will not eat shrimp, veal, lamb, monkey brains or Mahi Mahi or brussell sprouts-- all strictly for personal reasons...And I would never feel that my choice is superior to another's choice

Free! We can be a group! One that doesn't eat any of that stuff, cause I agree 100%. Laughing

I will eat anything that will sit still long enough for me to stick a fork in it. Wink
