So I was reading some of the comments to this story: http://www.observer-reporter.com/or/washnews/03-21-2010-census-story. I'm closely involved in the Census this year and know it is the right thing to do, but I am wondering what all of you think about this process.

I was standing at the counter in an auto parts store about a month ago listening to two guys complain about the government intrusion into their private lives and having to answer 50 questions and such. I finally had enough and told them they were raving lunatics!

OK, I wanted to tell them that. Instead, I gave them the 10 questions that will take less than 10 minutes speech and told them no one was going to come check up on their household afterwards. By the way, I don't think they believed me. Rolling Eyes

I was actually offered a part-time job with the Census. It paid well, but I turned it down, because just thinking of the "ignoramus et ignorabimus" people I'd have to deal with, gave me headache.

I definitely want to be counted!

This is my first experience with all of this. I keep hearing about "the Census"... but I have no clue what the controversy is. I received mine in the mail two weeks ago. Since my wife is on maternity leave, I figured she'd fill it out, but its still sitting in the entry way unopened. She said, "its addressed to 'current resident' so that means you too!" It looks pretty thick so I bet we have the long version. Save your comments. I'll be sure to fill it out. Gotta make sure to mark down that Irwin, Pa, is 100% caucasian. Seriously, I've never seen a black person in town.

I haven't read mine yet... does it ask for religion?

Because prior to receiving mine, I noticed that there was a big push on the internet for atheists to make it clear that they were atheists on the census... since the teabaggers are primarily god-fearin' neocons... if they DON'T fill it out, they will be underrepresented and the illusion will be that the America they once loved really IS gone Smile

It will just be a bunch of godless liberals and it's their own damn fault Smile

1. How many people live there as of 4/1/10?
2. Anyone else not included in question 1?
3. Is property owned with or without mortgage, rented, or squatted?
4. Telephone number?
5. (Then for each question 1 person) Name?
6. Sex? (not a yes or no question, by the way)
7. Age and Date of Birth?
8. Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish (yes or no)
9. Race?
10. Ever stay somewhere else?
