You see, Free, at times you come across as a very educated, literate, knowledgable individual, and at other times, a dumb azz LIBCHIT....the S.S. Trust Fund was segregated from all other government monies, and invested in government securities, i.e., Treasury notes, bonds.....it was intended as a small part of a citizen's retirement.........THEN L.B.J., stole the trust fund, and turned it into a TAX INCREASE........PERIOD....there's no denying that fact....
As for your ques tion:
NO, I BELIEVE THAT IF ONE DOESN'T RECEIVE BENEFITS CORRESPONDING TO THE AMOUNT HE/SHE PUTS INTO IT, THERE SHOULD BE A LIMIT.....

Thank you, Phony, for the slider.... I also think you're a lot smarter than you appear...
If I follow your logic that the limits to SS donations should be proportional to expected returns, and I am repeatedly assured that the system will be bankrupted by wine-swilling baby boomers 5 years before I can collect, then my personal limit should be zero.....
Without Godly intervention, the only way to maintain SS through 2025, is to up the withholding from 6.2 to 9.7% (matched, of course, by the employer) And for the self employed, the rate would be 22.3 % of gross income..(it's already 15.3%, and is the largest bill I pay all year) Social Security is like state tax - no deductions. If I sell firewood, and earn 20,000$, my income tax is a measly 900, but my SS is close to 3000 $...
The only other way to repair the system, is to eliminate the completely arbitrary "limit" of 106,000, just like medicare. Doing so would not only restore trust, but be a stick in the eye to these 3.9 million dollar CEO's who rape the economy, retire to a beach villa, and collect my 3000 $ check

Bus, the only thing holding S.S. together is a PROMISE BY DADDY GOBMINT that it will continue to pay the benefits to the recipients.....how, remains to be seen, because the money ain't there.....it is in the GENERAL FUND,..........once again, the money is in the GENERAL FUND......do any of you LIBCHITS understand what a GENERAL FUND entails??????
