Oh, and he also helped keep the tax rates on the wealthy at about 90% from 1948 through 1964...Other than that, he played golf a lot.
So, yeah, I'm with you on that -- I Like Ike |
Free, uh, Ike was elected in 1952 but I like Ike too, I remember the movie stars going off on those 90% taxes, sports stars not so much as it wasn't till about 1964 or so before the big bucks started (remember Huarte getting a whole $200, 000 and Namath an unbelievable $400,000 ( and we all said, geezes, next thing you know gas will be 40 cents a gallon) to sign with the Jets?) |

Ike's most famous act was the interstate highway system, which today, is falling apart......while Bush II and Grand Mufti O'sama are spending money like drunken LIBCHIT sailors, our infrastructure is decaying..... _________________ Exposing the secular humanist liberal "progressives". |

I think we can all agree that NEITHER party is anything like the Ike-Kennedy days. _________________

Ah, the Ike /Kennedy were days of a particular period of our history, SSSS, now we had/have new "days" and they too will be days of another era. Whether "good' or "bad" depends on what we do/don't do.
You and I and the rest on this forum can only express our opinions and thoughts, here or to our elected officials. Maybe someone is taking notice of them. |

Yes Bus, you're right, I didn't mean to imply that he was president for ten years, but that the tax code remained the same, and he took a lot of heat from (what in today's money, would be called) millionaires. Yet that decade, with its high taxes on the wealthy, and huge expenditures on Research & Development, saw the greatest solid growth in our nation. No "bubbles" here, and banks were tightly regulated. Economists call it the Golden Era.....Now the millionaires are calling the shots again, and the military industrial complex Ike warned about, is stronger than ever _________________ where-ever you get it - there you have it. - Anon. |
