Quote:
God said to Adam, "See My Works, how beautiful and praiseworthy they are. Everything I have created has been created for your sake. Think of this, and do not corrupt or destroy My World; for if you corrupt it, there will be no one to set it right after you."

Ecclesiastes 7:13

So, God commands you to care for the environment. What say you, believers?

God is one contradicting MFer.

Quote:
Timothy 2:15 "Give Me Oil in my Lamp"

And how are we to get this oil? Sometimes He forgets that He is the only one with magical powers.

And Genesis clearly states that Global Warming is a hoax!

Quote:
Genesis 8:22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

Why are you making their argument for them?

This is a fun topic. There are so many sites dedicated in linking Jesus to being against global warming... or gay marriage... or black people... jews (of course)... dancing... rock music... baseball. You can pretty much interpret the Bible anyway you want.

Jesus is obviously a liberal.

Who said anything about Jesus? My quote was from Ecclesiastes, the REAL holy scripture that the Jews wrote. Not your opportunistic Christian bible.

Guys, I'm kinda busy fighting a fake Christian somewhere else...Plus, I don't do Old Testament...But I will tell you this -- over 99 percent of all species that have ever existed on the earth have gone extinct, and the majority of these extinctions were caused by rapid environmental changes. Random mutation cannot keep up with severe climate shift or the invasion of a new virus. I don't fear God -- I fear Mother Nature. She could wipe us out in the twinkling of an eye, and God the Father will not defend us. He'll just start over with some new creature

Jesus wasn't just a liberal...He was a straight up commie that had it in for the rich! He says it very clearly, multiple times. The Gospels are one big Commie Manifesto. Conservatives choose to ignore all that & stick to the parts of the Bible that are convenient for them. After all, who wants Jesus telling them to be non-judgemental, help the poor, that if you are rich it means that you're not giving enough, and all that boring goody-goody crap, when you can use other parts of the Bible to make yourself feel superior to others & justify your hatred towards people that make you uncomfortable?

Kennedy 9/14/1960

From the Episcopal Church's Book of Common Prayer:
Quote:
Give us all a reverence for the earth as your own creation, that we may use its resources rightly in the service of others and to your honor and glory.
We say this, or some variation of it, nearly every week during the part of our liturgy called "Prayers of the People."

These, from another section of the prayer book, are used whenever appropriate:
Quote:
Prayers for the Natural Order

40. For Knowledge of God's Creation
Almighty and everlasting God, you made the universe with all its marvelous order, its atoms, worlds, and galaxies, and the infinite complexity of living creatures: Grant that, as we probe the mysteries of your creation, we may come to know you more truly, and more surely fulfill our role in your eternal purpose; in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

41. For the Conservation of Natural Resources
Almighty God, in giving us dominion over things on earth, you made us fellow workers in your creation: Give us wisdom and reverence so to use the resources of nature, that no one may suffer from our abuse of them, and that generations yet to come may continue to praise you for your bounty; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

42. For the Harvest of Lands and Waters
O gracious Father, who openest thine hand and fillest all things living with plenteousness: Bless the lands and waters, and multiply the harvests of the world; let thy Spirit go forth, that it may renew the face of the earth; show thy loving-kindness, that our land may give her increase; and save us from selfish use of what thou givest, that men and women everywhere may give thee thanks; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

44. For the Future of the Human Race
O God our heavenly Father, you have blessed us and given us dominion over all the earth: Increase our reverence before the mystery of life; and give us new insight into your purposes for the human race, and new wisdom and determination in making provision for its future in accordance with your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

In the Episcopal Church (and Anglicanism in general) we don't have a book of doctrine. Instead, it's "lex orandi, lex credendi" which means (loosely) "the Church prays as the Church believes." In other words, if you want to know what the Episcopal Church (TEC) believes on any given topic, read the prayers or liturgy relating to that topic. Wanna know how the TEC views marriage - read the liturgy for Holy Matrimony. Wanna know how we generally define what it means to be a Christian - read the liturgy for the Sacrament of Holy Baptism.
