Quote: | ABC News reporter Jonathon Karl tried to get Sen. Jim Bunning (R-KY) to answer questions about his one man filibuster an extension of unemployment benefits. Bunning told Karl he was not talking to anyone and on his way to elevator, before the cameras arrived, gave ABC the finger. Bunning may have thought that he was only flipping off the media, but he was really flipping off every unemployed person in America. |

I was reading about that earlier. It has all sorts of implications on haulting road projects... and this article on the effects his vote has on funding medicare.
http://www.businessinsider.com/jim-bunning-also-triggered-a-21-percent-cut-in-medicare-fees-to-doctors-2010-3
Quote: | Republican Senator Jim Bunning is on a one-man political rampage, blocking bills and letting millions of Americans -- and perhaps his own party -- suffer the consequences.
But he stopped the passage of bills last week that would have increased the federal deficit. These included an extension of unemployment benefits and a measure to fill a $10 billion budget gap in Medicare funding.
As a result of the un-addressed gap, doctors nationwide will see a 21% cut in Medicare disbursements on Monday and every day until the measure passes.

I guess he fits the adage that "No One is Perfect"
Jim Bunning Foundation
On December 18, 2008, the Lexington Herald Leader reported that Sen. Bunning's non-profit foundation, the Jim Bunning Foundation, has given less than 25 percent of its proceeds to charity. The charity has taken in $504,000 since 1996, according to Senate and tax records; during that period, Senator Bunning was paid $180,000 in salary by the foundation while working a reported one hour per week. Bunning Foundation board members include his wife Mary, and Cincinnati tire dealer Bob Sumerel. In 2008, records indicate that Bunning attended 10 baseball shows around the country and signed autographs, generating $61,631 in income for the charity.[34] "The whole thing is very troubling," said Melanie Slone, Executive Director for Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.

As I read it, Bunning offered the dems a way to pay for the extension and they voted it down. So lets be fair and blame both sides. Didn't the dems just reauthorize paygo? |

He didn't offer them anything realistic. That's like saying you offered someone a way off a sinking ship by handing them a loaded gun. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |

None of us are unemployed, so obviously it's not about us wanting anything for ourselves. You're such a selfish person that you don't understand the concept of standing up for someone else other than yourself & your own kind. _________________ "If by a 'Liberal' they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people — their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights and their civil liberties ... if that is what they mean by a 'Liberal,' then I’m proud to say I’m a 'Liberal.'" ~ Senator John F. Of course, you "want" for yourself.....all LIBCHIT losers have the same wave length when it comes to their frightened mentality.....LIBCHITS have no confidence in their abilities, and want to insure their livelidhood by taking away from other people.....BEING GENEROUS WITH OTHER PEOPLES' MONEY IS A COMMON TRAIT WITH LIBCHITS.... _________________ Exposing the secular humanist liberal "progressives". |

As usual, your argument doesn't make sense. Again, none of us are unemployed, so this would not benefit us in any way. And we are taxpayers. I actually pay way more in taxes than you. So I'm not being generous with other people's money. It's my tax money! Yeah, and what did that amount to? |
Apparently enough to pay for the bill. The dems didn't want to commit the funds so it was voted down. |
