We dropped him in favor of Mona Charen. I'm no fan of Charen, but I loathed Greenberg.

I loathe Mona Charen. I know what she's gonna say, and then she says it.

Greenberg had that Mike Royko flair of telling a story and slipping his message in, between the lines...Entertaining and informative...

I doubt anyone's gonna be reading this, so i can speak my mind. I love Marcia Biddle because she skirts seriousness in favor of telling a good story. I like Dolinar 'cause she's a serial optimist. The woman from China, Dorothy Mecklenberg, (sorry if I screwed up her name) is also a good story teller, and i'm madly in love with Kathleen Parker, even though she's a conservative...And I really really miss Erma Bombeck

I think David Brooks and George Will are reasonable conservatives. Greenberg is not. In his book, anything done by Democrats is pure evil. Charen is an ideologue, and not a very good writer. I think Paul Krugman, Nick Kristof and Tom Friedman are excellent. Even though we were not on the same wavelength politically, I loved William F. Buckley. But no one will ever take the place of H.L. Mencken.

I like to read Mary Beth Dolinar (I went to school with her!), Scott Paulsen, and one of the new community columnists, Laura Zoeller. I can relate personally to their stories. Byron's and Harry's columns are usually a good read, too. I find I stay away from the political columns...I get my share through this forum. Wink Not that I don't read them, I just don't read them often enough to form opinions about their writing skills. Now, there are some letters to the editor writers that I refuse to read...they are just plain idiotic! (But, true to form, I won't mention any names.) Embarassed

The letters to the editor make my day... I'd off myself if I didn't have that to look forward to every morning.
