E, Cy, you'd be better off talking to the shoe E mentioned. At least the shoe doesn't keep saying the same stupid things over and over and over again.

The Dems aren't the only ones in Congress, but yes, a couple of them like Max Baucus get paid too much. But its mostly the GOP and the Blue Dogs, who are closet Republicans. They prefer to have their pockets lined instead of listening to the voters, which is why so many were replaced in the last election and why you will see more sent packing this time.

They aren't coming for the medical care... that's as dumb an argument as when you asked me why I don't move to france for health care...

Can't afford a house? Why don't you move to Nicaragua? Houses are cheap there...

I like how you will pay higher taxes to control federal spending (an abstract and intangible concept)... but you won't pay higher taxes for a real, live person to have health insurance...

Those real live persons will not be chipping in to pay the cost of this great progeam nor will they chip in to pay down the deficit. I may not be working any longer, but I will still be paying taxes to the federal government. The way the state budget is looking it won't be long before they also tax pensions, and our local government won't be far behind. I have always paid my share and continued to give to national and local charities as I could.

I think it got a lot of people in a tizzy who weren't looking forward to the obstructionist (destructionist?) party gaining another seat. MA voted for who they wanted, but the country as a whole doesn't like the GOP any more than they did when Bush was still in office.

I don't think they like the dems any better right now.

Actually, they do. The dems poll pretty low, but they're still polling ahead of the GOP.

Just because the dems are not as deep in the chit as the republicans they still stink just as bad.

I did not see todays paper due to the storm. I read the clip you attached and he is as entitled to his opinion as were the other two articles by doctors that we have discussed in earlier posts.
I will note that many of the people he sees in the ER (mostly men) never see a doctor until they are really ill. THey may feel bad but don't want to know for fear it is something that may be fatal.

Or... maybe they are uninsured and have the following thought process:

If I go to the doctor and it's "nothing"-- I'm out X dollars for no reason.
If I go to the doctor and it's "something"-- I'm out X dollars to find out I have something I can't afford to get fixed anyway.

There are also many people on medicaid who flood ER's all the time because they don't seem to have time to schedule a doctors appointment. Many of them with children never get thier children vacinated until the are forced to by the school even though they have coverage. many of those same people never getthier kids to a dentist either. Just too busy I suppose.

I'd love to know how many... Do you have any data on this or is it purely anecdotal?
