And I missed it!!!! It was a decent show. Green Day came out with the cast of the "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" Broadway musical... I think this is why Kurt Cobain killed himself. I don't like any of Beyonce's songs, but she blows me away with talent. Pink did her crazy high wire act. And Steven Colbert mocked the entire event and provided the only comic relief of the night. I enjoyed most of what I watched, but the actual award means jack chit. I was glad to see Kings of Leon win Best Record, but when Neil Young wins his first ever Grammy, and a group like the Black Eyed Peas has several, you just have to laugh. _________________

The Grammys are a joke, in my opinion. It's all middle-of-the-road, mass market, sales-driven junk, with the occasional bone thrown to somebody actually deserving like Kings of Leon. And if you die, they'll give you every award known to man. A few years back, when Ray Charles died, they gave all kinds of awards to a very average album he put out. Now, Ray Charles was a musical genius, but there were deserving people who didn't get a Grammy because they gave them to Brother Ray. The Grammys are barely one step above the People's Choice Awards. _________________

Here's the example I always use to illustrate how stupid the Grammys are. Back in the late '70s, the Grammy for best new artist went to A Taste of Honey, the folks who brought us "Boogie Oogie Oogie." They were selected over the Cars and, even worse, Elvis Costello. _________________

The last artist that won a Grammy that I agreed with was Mars Volta. That was last year in the "Best Hard Rock" category. That alone is what pisses me off; the awards are so antiquated that they don't even have accurate categories for the music anymore. Calling Mars Volta hard rock is like calling the Eagles country or the Beatles rockabilly. Its like a close shot at what they actually are, but not that close. _________________ The end is nigh! I agree with you guys. But thanks for the summary, Dick. I will go online tonight & watch the highlights. I already saw the Lady Gaga clip last night & I think you're right about the vag! _________________ "If by a 'Liberal' they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people — their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights and their civil liberties ... if that is what they mean by a 'Liberal,' then I’m proud to say I’m a 'Liberal.'" ~ Senator John F. Like every award, you just have to accept it for what it is. Maybe there was a time when these awards really meant something, but I'll always reserve the right to measure talent through my own observation.
I watched to check out the performances. There is a lot of talent, and then the live performances expose the manufactured talent like Jamie Foxx and T-Pain getting auto-tuned for their entire performance. I still really enjoyed the Foxx and T-Pain performance. As the song was wrapping up, a giant black woman joined them on stage and began dancing like crazy! Then Slash appeared out of nowhere and solo'ed over the end of the song. It's always fun when guys don't take themselves too seriously. _________________

If I'd know Slash was going to roll out 'the cut and jam, I would have watched.
Yes, I said roll out 'the cut. _________________ The end is nigh! OR forums die APRIL 1. Don't lose contact! Join the forums at bogsource.com now! |
