Totally!!! And here in GA, a few flurries are considered a major winter storm. People start driving like maniacs & go grocery shopping as if they're going to be stuck in a bomb shelter for a month! Laughing Me...I just get wine, cheese, maybe some french bread & I'm ready for the snow! Cool

Here in NM a dusting of snow is routinely referred to as an inch or more of snow. Now in higher elevations they do get several inches regularly throughout the winter. They don't freak out about it like folks in the lower altitudes do over a few snowflakes. Laughing

I remember...and I think it was 1978....Atlanta was totally paralyzed after five inches of snow fell.

I was there. And you are right. We Yankees had a jolly good time driving through it.

So, I was thinking... what do you do when both parents have to be at work, and there is a two hour delay?

Since teachers have to be at work at the regular time, is there a drop off for parents who are stuck?

No, there is not a drop-off option at most schools. For two-worker-parent families, it is a scramble on those mornings! Since for most of my working time at this job I've been close to home, I used to bring them to work with me and put them in an empty conference room with breakfast and Legos until it was time to run them back home to catch the bus. For their first few years of school, until I lost my old job, I think my Mum and I would take turns calling in sick or going in late. (And no, that's not why I lost my job.) I'm not sure what parents do who are not as fortunate as I was with my employer.

That's why it is a pain if they delay, then cancel! Plans have already been rearranged for a two-hour delay, then you have to look at all day! At my old job, if school were cancelled early enough, I took them to the day care they attended in the summers. This job, I left them at home alone since I was so close (ason was 12 the first winter). *gasp

I took advantage of today's two-hour delay and went to breakfast with bson. Used a couple hours of comp time and had a really nice time. I highly recommend it. Smile

Awesome. I love breakfast. I'm convinced that bacon is the best weapon to combat Muslim extremists. If they'd only taste it, they'd immeadiately conform to the western culture.

Now I want bacon. Bacon and eggs and hash browns and either a waffle or french toast, and maybe some sausage.

If you're in the Pittsburgh area, you have to go to Frank and Shirley's, a place I go for breakfast with a friend who lives in Castle Shannon. It's at 2209 Saw Mill Run Blvd. It's an old diner-type restaurant, and the home fries are incredible. I can't recommend it highly enough.
