I swear on my mother's life that the female news anchor on Channel 2 just closed their newscast by saying, "Be careful out there. It's going to be a rough day." We're getting an inch of snow. AN INCH!!! Boy, I hope all of you survive this horrifying "weather event."

Maybe she knows something we don't... like a meteor is going to hit the earth or something...

We may very well look back on this day and say, collectively: "That was a VERY rough day."

Smile

Or not...

That's ridiculous. People gripe all the time about the need for better education for their kids, while whining if little Susie and Bobby don't get a two-hour delay because there's a dusting of snow or because it's cold. It's January in Pennsylvania, for gawd's sake.

As a working mom, two-hour delays are pathetic and a real strain on morning routines! For safety reasons during substantial snow, I can see waiting a bit to allow the plows to get through, but on cold days, throw some more clothes on your kid! It is not going to get much warmer in two hours. Rolling Eyes

P.S. As an aside, some of our state roads were completely iced this morning at 7:30 a.m. and busses should not have been on them. Maybe a two-hour delay today (which we didn't have) was not such a bad idea.

I'll take your word for it. Safety first. And, as you say, "throw some more clothes on your kid!" Most kids that I see waiting for the bus are in one of the parents vehicles. There is no toughness required to grow up anymore.

You're wrong, it hasn't got anything to do with toughness. There are far too many creeps out there and if my kid is sitting in our car waiting for the bus, then I seriously doubt that anyone is going to bother her.

Probably the same amount of creeps as there always were. We just talk about it a lot more on the news than we used to.

I'm guilty of taking my kid(s) to the bus stop each morning. We are out in the country and our "driveway" is a 1/4 mile long, When they were younger, like the Professor said, there are too many creeps out there for them to stand there alone so far from the house. Now it is a matter of convenience and logic. We leave the house at the same time, so I drive him up to catch the bus and then go straight to work once he gets on the bus.

That news person needs to spend some time in Erie or Buffalo!

Ana, I remember how much fun it was, when I lived in the South, to watch the "team coverage" if there was so much as a threat of snow flurries.

Probably so, but we can't see the road from our home and are unwilling to risk it.

I'm not saying we should be less careful now, but that we probably should have been more careful in the past.

It's hilarious! We may be getting some snow this weekend & they're already freaking out! Laughing
